  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Just got into my work break and checked sports sites.

Im really disappointed as to why the Celtics never get their due credit. Instead all I see, hear and read is how Miami failed yet again.

Not that I didn't like the sound of that. But I hope the media keeps putting up bulletin board material for this team to keep pushing and proving doubter more wrong.

Your thoughts on it?

Because these sites and media companies need to make money, so they highlight the story that is going to bring in the most web site traffic, or sell the most papers, or get the highest ratings.

Miami failing is a story.  Boston whooping their butts when they all said it wasn't going to happen just makes them look bad.

I think we should keep the heat up on the NBA more than anyone.   The reffing is a little less biased after angry emails, etc.   Still slanted towards MIA but a little fairer.

I don't watch ESPN, you should not either.   It's opinion based sports not factual reporting.

I agree with the OP. There's very little about how well the Celtics and a lot about how poorly the Heat played. Can't they give credit where credit is due? The Celtics played well!!

Don't worry C's will get credit when they win the chip.

So far the only guy to come out and say "I was wrong about this team" has been John Barry.

ESPN is a little Pravdaesque.

To his credit, before his Miami collapsing rant, Stephen A. Smith prefaced everything by saying he and everyone else who picked against Boston should be ashamed because they all underestimated them.

If BOS can beat MIA and then beat either Spurs/OKC - there just won't be much media coverage with this group, AT ALL.

Just my take.

Reasons why?

We are "Old"...(Not hip).

KG is allegedly a "Bully.."Dirty"...(Not appealing to the media).

We are a top Defensive Team (Not fun to watch..not much scoring appeal).

We have a PG that is a PURE PG, and has some alleged baggage (Supposedly can't (or won't) shoot)...moody, etc.

We have a TEAM that can have basically ANY player off the bench show up BIG TIME - we've had an assortment of Steimer, Hollins, Dooling, Marquis, and Pietrus - show up this post-season. We're not a "SuperStar" Driven team.

Like MIA.

We have a coach that, while respected around the league - just doesn't carry the same credentials as Phil, Pop, etc (YET) - and while he is a great coach he is a bit plain-spoken to the media. You just won't get many sound-bites out of him. He speaks the truth, but in a way that is just plain and to the point.

I'm sure that if BOS can pull this off and hang Banner 18 in a couple of weeks (provided we can get by MIA and Spurs/OKC), you'll have the Celtics of old greet this current crew...you'll probably see televised cuts to Russell, Hondo, Cooz, Tommy, etc - just like they did when we won it all in 07-08.

Additionally, BOS's top "Pitchman" is evidently KG, at #17, according to this Hoopshype article:

http://hoopshype.com/commercials.htm

Ironically the "Top" pitchmen consists of Nash, Kobe and Lebron.

Two of those three are fishing....one could be joining them shortly, if BOS can finish this off on Thur.

Imagine, if you will, Mike Wilbon-Magic-Chris Broussard, Barry, etc - having to potentially talk about Tim Duncan, Parker, KG, Pierce, Ray, Rondo, Manu, etc - instead of Lebron, Wade?

That is boring to some.

DO IT, BOS!

Magic Johnson, believe it or not is talking very nicely of Boston. Jon Barry is coming around and starting to believe.

Personally, I really don't care what the media thinks. In fact it is very comical to me when they make references of the Celtics age, athletic ability, etc etc.
The beatings will continue until morale improves
