I was in for the break em up deal also. Not now. Even though a short season the Celts finished strong. Pierce Rondo and KG can still kick some butt next Season and make things real interesting again. In game 2 Rondo showed he can take over a game. Evidently there's much upside to this man. Wasn't showing because of deferring to Pierce, KG and Allen. He can and most likely will be the team. Everything has changed since that 44 point game. Doc will be here. There are worse. Bradley looks to be exciting. Allen definitely has to take a powder.

Kg remains our best player.  I sure hope he returns or we are heading for the dark ages. Wonder how much he will take tho

Yeah, but I've seen so many rumors, talk of him possibly retiring.

He's even hinted at it, some.

Trade both picks, Bradley and JJJ to Kings for
A)#5 pick OR
B)Cousins

Depending on the pick, we could get 1 of the 3:
 MKG,Beal, or Drummond

Sign Brandon Roy and Greg Oden to vet min contracts

Rondo,Roy,Pierce,KG,Cousins/Drummond,Oden,Green
Rondo,MKG/Beal,Pierce,KG,Oden,Green
Can't stop, Rondo!

If KG is coming back it won't be without Pierce. If he knows that Pierce is going to be traded and Ray probably won't be back, we will not see KG in Boston next season. He would most likely sign at a minimum if he had to with whichever team Pierce was traded to.

It's most likely with Pierce in Boston or with Pierce somewhere else. Just IMHO.

I just think KG is too loyal of a guy and that loyalty is first to his teammates, then the organization.

I think if we bring back:

KG / Steamer
Bass / JJJ
Pierce / Green
Bradley / Pietrus
Rondo / Moore

Two first round picks and one very solid free agent center and another mid level PF who can board - that team is a beast next season.

The benefit of having Green back and another legit center is that we can really reduce KG's and Pierce minutes throughout the regular season, let them ramp up towards the playoffs. It's what SA has done so well this year. If you do that you might get another 2-3 good years out or KG and Paul.

I'd do all of that ;)

I don't think Cousins can be had.  I wish he could, though... that would be fantastic.

It's been suggested in a rumor that Boston is trying to trade both picks to move up into the 14-16 range.  Do you really think adding Bradley and JJJ could get us into the top 5?  Honest question... I'm not being sarcastic.

Whatever the viability of Jackie's sources, I've felt the same all along, that KG and Rondo are the two sure bets for next season. I don't see that changing, except under very unusual circumstances.

I felt pretty sure about Paul for a while, but it's obvious now that he's expendable ... man, I hope that doesn't happen, as I can't imagine seeing the Truth in another jersey, playing against us on the parquet.

I hardly ever post but more like to read people's thoughts on this blog... but wow saying Paul is expendable??? Where has that come from.. the man is playing good so far this post season he killed it against Atlanta with everyone raving about him. He is now playing against/guarding the best player in the league, what do you expect, and he still had 20+ points last night.  This team is old and the schedule sucks right now... how is he expendable and who do you even think could replace his production the C's could get next season? the FA market is horrendous.
Reckless comment
I agree with you, buddy.  Don't be afraid to post on this forum.  Speak up more often.

Paul is playing hurt.  LeBron shot 35% last night and Paul dropped 20+... you can't undervalue Pierce here.  Even at his age, he's our most consistent and capable scorer.  Frankly, he's the only player on this team able to create his own shot.  I have him ranked below KG and above Rondo in terms of overall "importance" on this squad.  When Rondo misses games, Paul steps up and we usually win.  When Pierce misses games... we got brutalized.

That said, supposedly we traded Paul at the deadline (when we were looking hopeless) to Brooklyn for cap space and their pick (which ended up being #6).   That's pretty interesting to me... a top 6 pick and shedding his 15 mil in cap space.  Thinking "big picture" that could have been a major deal.  But supposedly Pierce's agent blocked the deal from happening or something.   Now Paul has dropped rumors about maybe retiring.  I don't think Paul has any interest in playing elsewhere... seems he'd rather retire than play with a different team.  Don't ask me to predict this offseason... anything can happen.  Smart money is on Ainge just re-signing everyone and hanging onto Paul since the guys we have are the best available free agents anyways.

I would be very unhappy if we traded Bradley, he's so young and is only going to get better. If we move him I'd want someone who is more not less established than him.
I wouldn't care if we traded Bradley.  Kid has spunk and is a good defender, but his ceiling is "poor man's Jason Terry"... Only so much you can get out of a 6'2 180 pound shooting guard.

I'd probably trade Bradley and the two 1st round picks if I could get Cousins. As much as I like Bradley a lineup of:

Cousins / Steamer
KG / Bass / JJJ
Pierce / Green
Ray / Pietrus
Rondo / Moore

Bring in a couple vets?

would be sick...just sick.

Cousins, KG and Pierce?

  • Let's Go Celtics!
I've always thought that if KG decides to continue playing, it'd be in Boston. With the way he's played at center, I think bringing him back would be the best option this offseason. In another thread, I projected next year's starting line-up to be:

PG: Mr. Triple Double
SG: Avery Bradley
SF: Paul Pierce
PF: Michael Beasley
C: Kevin Garnett

I would be very unhappy if we traded Bradley, he's so young and is only going to get better. If we move him I'd want someone who is more not less established than him.

Jason Terry wishes he had Avery Bradley athleticism and defensive ability. I'm not saying he's going to be a superstar, but I take a "poor man's" Jason Terry as an insult.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Cousins is a 7 foot 270 pound center who is 21 years old and averaged 18 points, 11 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 1.2 blocks in 30 minutes.   The only reason people consider him available is because he's a bit of a head case (though I've heard he's misunderstood and just desperate to win... my interpretation was that he's very Rasheed-esque).  He's still under rookie contract until 2015.  I'm not even sure they would take Rondo for him straight up.

This is great. At the start of the season I was reluctant to break up the Big 3. And watching the Spurs as this season progressed I've become even more so. We just need to be really smart and lucky this offseason.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.
