Well my guy who I had targeted from yesterday made it through.  The Mavericks will take perhaps the last true center who at 7' 280 has the size to at least pretend like he can guard Shaq.  He averaged nearly 19/12 with 2 blocks, 56% from the floor 70% from the line.  2nd team All NBA, All Star, and unfortunately center for the Los Angeles Lakers, Andrew Bynum.

Who else thinks a Brand for Amar'e trade would be a win win?

Anyone?... anyone? (lowers voice) ... anyone (murmurs)...

PG - Nash vs Iverson
SG - Finley vs Richmond
SF - Pippen vs TBD
PF - Brand vs Amare or Amare vs Brand
C  - TBD vs Mutombo

I could see that idea helping both teams.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Couldn't bring myself to pick Bynum. I thought his stats during the season were an aberration, and I thought he got exposed in the playoffs. Mentally, he's weak, and a wildcard.

And yes, I said wildcard.

I really like that Dallas team. It's coming together nicely.

Derrick Rose, Paul Pierce, Karl Malone and Andrew Bynum.

Last 3 picks:

Reggie - nothing bad to say, he was just starting to peak and a great teammate.

Finley - I liked a couple of other guys here but he wouldn't have lasted the fifth.

Bynum - Size and skills for sure but the mental part is still years away.

He still went for 17/11 in the playoffs and is actually still the playoff leader in offensive rebounds with 46.  He definitely might have some off days here and there, but I think he is one of the more complete centers in the entire draft class.  He has size, speed, and quickness to guard virtually every other center and while he isn't an elite offensive or defensive player, he is good enough on both ends to make every other center in this game work on both ends (something you can't say for about half of the starting centers in this draft).  There is a lot of value there and he was healthy this year.  He also played 36 minutes a game and averaged less than 2 fouls so he plays clean and can stay on the floor.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I thought Kevin Love would have gone higher.

Coming off a monster year, fresh in everyone's mind. That shooting touch at PF.

Great pick.  Love the versality, just didn't have the size to play next to Malone, so I couldn't take him as a starter (I might have taken him with the intent to use him as a backup, but Bynum was just too good to pass up).

Stoudemire/Mutombo is a great frontcourt pairing.

A year ago, I would've agreed. After seeing him with Chandler now, I wonder.

Agree with IP. After seeing Stoudemire all these years I don't think he can play with a guy who plays in the paint on offense. Shaq and Chandler both show this. He either needs to be at Center or playing with a spread the floor big like Channing Frye bc that's when he was at his best.

Amare's game is predicated on facing up and using a first step to blow by his defender. Having a guy like Mutombo, Shaq, Chandler who bring their defender with them in the paint clogs his driving lanes and forces him to be a shooter only.
But Deke is not a Shaq/Chandler kind of player on offense, That's exactly why I picked Stoudemire.

I just meant they don't spread the floor and he really struggles when he doesn't have space to drive to the basket. That was my point. I like both of them a lot individually.
Yeah it really doesn't seem like a great fit because even if Deke leaves the paint, his man won't have to follow him out and can just double down on Amare.  A guy like Duncan or KG would have been a much better fit with Amare.
I'd be more than willing to make this trade happen. ;)

And I love the Love pick, Wdleehi.

Oh, just realized K-Love is with Dwight Howard and Ray Allen and Deron Williams.

Lots of rebounding from the bigs. Lots of floor spacing for Dwight Howard. Terrific backcourt who can create a lot of offensively. Very efficient offensive team. Impressive foursome.

Thanks.  I have a few ideas for my next pick.  Hoping at least one of them sticks around, and they all aren't wings, as I would clearly go with a backup if the talent was right.

Too lazy to look, but might be the only team, or one of very few, with all active players.
