If anyone wants to play co-gm I haven't the least idea what I should do with my next pick.

I may be a little late, so please don't skip me until my time expires.  Thanks.

Please provide a list! We've been ahead of schedule nearly every round so far.
But I might go a different route than I am anticipating now depending on how the first 6 picks shake out, so I'd really prefer not to.  I leave just after 1 (at that time I might be able to give a list I will be happy with or maybe even pick) and should be back around 3 (my normal draft time).  Not sure what the rush is.  The times were picked for a reason.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Im not questioning that physically Pierce was a better player in 01-02 im just saying that I think the 06 Indiana incident was a turning point in his career and in this format you need guys that see there role and can except it, im not sure the pre 06 Pierce could accept a deferred roll.  Just some quotes here

Quote
"... last night we entered a hoop twilight zone in a game that featured the single most unforgivable, untimely, stupid, and flat-out selfish on-court act in the history of the Celtics."

-Bob Ryan

Quote
"Ejected from Game 6 last night, Paul Pierce left the floor at Conseco Fieldhouse swinging his green jersey above his head, a gesture certainly intended to taunt the sellout crowd, and allegedly inspire his teammates. It was the final, disgraceful act in a sequence of events that nearly resulted in the Celtics' playoff elimination."

-Shira Springer

Quote
Once considered one of the NBA's brightest young stars, he had turned into just another moody, selfish, me-first gunner with an attitude, an unlikable player on every level. It was almost a chore to root for him. As my father said that day, "I don't care what we get for him, I just want him to go." Everyone felt that way.

-Bill Simmons

Or this one, also pre 07-08

Quote
Then he didn't like Doc Rivers. It was obvious. Pierce would stand apart from his teammates and coach during timeouts.

He didn't care much for his supporting cast. He was surrounded by the Ricky Davises of the world; teamed with kids right out of high school who didn't know how to play. Pierce put himself above his teammates and his coach.

"Me and Doc definitely bumped heads from the beginning," he said. "There were screaming matches, rebellion. I didn't think it was going to work between me and him. Doc would say, 'Paul, your body language and your attitude says a lot for the guys around you. I know you're not happy not winning games. But you have to know how if affects the rest of the guys. When your body language is low and you're not getting extra shots, it rubs off on the other guys.'

I really think not going with the Pierce of the big 3 era is a misstake.  He grew up alot since Ray and KG joined the team and I think ignoring that is some revisionist hisory.

I think that game against the Pacers was probably the angriest I've ever been at anything ever.

Just a courtesy. If the guys after you are ready to pick, and the guys before you have already picked, it's just courtesy to be ready as well.

Youre entitled to make your pick at the time.

None of that is from the 02 season.  After the early 2000's run, the Celtics changed drastically and went into rebuilding and Pierce lost interest.  He wasn't the player you are quoting in 2001-2002, he became that player after years of losing and with constant roster upheaval.

I disagree, as I said, I think your team could desperately use the leadership of the 07-08 pierce.

We start this at noonish or one-ish?

And I'm a bit late to the Pierce discussion, but the little I've read in this thread about him and from what I seen/witnessed of him, I'd feel safe going with the early 2000's Paul Pierce if Moranis chooses.

I know he had some rough patches during those times, but what impressed me the most about the Early Paul was his gradual transformation right after a certain _______________ tore into his behind and the team for their poor play during the NJ series:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MI3sj3XKrQ

Look at those first 30 secs or so....right after that, Paul showed up.

I'd like to think THAT time was the start of his transformation...didn't mean that he'd be perfect afterwards (because he wasn't), but you can just tell that he had leadership written all over him - even then.

I love my team so far, but Paul (and Ray) were certainly on my radar.

In THIS format, does anyone really believe that Paul would be disgruntled and unhappy with D Rose, Mailman, and whoever else is on that team :).

Of course they'd have trouble with MY team ;D, but seriously I LOVE the early 2000's Paul in this format.

Honestly.. Maybe... Rondo makes great points. What year was that he was on the World Championships team under George Karl? That team was very talented. A few All Stars and they underachieved big time. Like sixth place. Pierce was one of the "leaders" of that team and subsequentially was pretty much banned from USA basketball after that.

That was 2002

But that wasn't all Paul Pierce's fault either, Kane.

I've seen some past references to that (Paul being the harbinger of doom), and it baffles me.

If a team is THAT talented, any upset like that lies squarely at the Coaching Staff's feet.

And thus, George Karl (though a FINE coach) has not coached the Olympics since.

The above might be true about Pierce, but there limited evidence of character flaws in 02'. And even if there was, i certainly didn't affect his on-court ability.
