When the Heat go big and play Wade/Lebron on Rondo, the c's should go bigger putting Steamer in with KG. With KG and Steamer in there you go to the zone and pretty much guarantee the Heat will become a jump shooting team in the half court.

Like Dennis Scott just said on NBATV, The reason the zone worked for Dallas last year was because that had a 7 ft shot blocker controlling the low post. This is Steamer's biggest strength and by playing zone it lets him stay away from his biggest defensive weakness which is guarding the pick and roll . This also lets KG roam and be the great help defender he is .

The heat won't be able to get away with playing Wade and Lebron at PG if we go big with Steamer and KG because Battier won't be able to guard KG in the low post and the c's would have a rebounding advantage with two 7 fter's  (at least I think  ;))

anyways, just a thought ....

Ty is actually not a bad idea at all. That zone killed Miami last year. Who's to say it wouldn't work again.

Agreed. The Celtics defense looked much better when KG or the Steamboat was in the paint.

The trick is that I worry how many minutes either of these guys can handle. KG should play 36, and GS should play 20. And 1 of them should be on the floor at all times.

Maybe Hollins speed would be useful in a zone.

The most important thing is to find a way to keep a shot blocker in the paint at all times.

I like the idea. Anything, to shake things up.

Bassy 25-28 mins
Steamer 15-20 mins
Hollins 10 mins
KG 35+ mins

Those types of minutes allow for 2 of the 4 bigs that get PT to be on the floor all game. PP at the 4 won't work.

Marquis and Sasha should really be getting looks at the 3 to keep PP fresh and give James different looks too.

Agreed. Zone does many things for us.

1) it takes away all those dribble and drives to the rack by Lebron and Wade.

2) If they would get through(as many have said here) you have a big guy in the paint ready to lay the hammer down.

3) It solves a ton of our defensive rebounding problems when we were in man defense. With a 2-3 zone you will have up to 5 guys possibly crashing the boards grabbing that rebound blocking the other team out. Force the heat to beat us from outside only, and if they miss it is a one and done scenario. No more second and third chances!

4) By getting more rebounds it gives us more offensive chances at the other end.

and.....we really need to use TWO big guys at all times in the low post on the offensive side. pound them unmercifully. Take the high percentage shots and draw fouls. Penetrate and dish to the bigs down low if Rondo is cut off or swarmed. helps with offensive rebounds as well. KG can feed Steamer and vice versa. Steamer CAN SCORE if we do this.
LET'S GO CELTICS!

Forget defense. I don't know if the Heat have anyone who can guard Stiemsma in the post. I hope he gets a lot of minutes tonight.

Stiemsma has looked his best since the playoffs started. Give me more of that big fella!
