Van Gundy could really embarrass Stern and put him on the defensive, by recalling the NBA's history of corrupt officiating.

Even Van Gundy's broadcasting partner, Breen, seems to be in on it, defending every obviously bogus call.

Unfortunately, Van Gundy probably won't, because he will be pressured to resign, aka, get fired.

Stern in charge of the NBA, Bob Iger in charge of Disney (ESPN and ABC), Jeff Bewkes CEO of Time Warner (TNT).

These three probably live within 3 blocks of each other on the Upper East Side, dine in the same 5 star restaurants, and run in the same social circles.

the game has been a disgrace...some absolutely horrible calls (including Doc's tech and KG's foul for tapping the ball...along with the lack of calls for us when we get mugged in the lane)

Well if they lets the C's get away with what the Heat are allowed to get away with all through the game the game would be close. C's are not allowed to defend.

Just have to point out that the KG tech was legit. He clearly tapped the ball into the crowd after the made basket (as standard a delay-of-game call as there is). And since the Cs already had been warned for a DoG violation earlier, the ref had to call the tech on KG. The rules are very clear on this.

The other 2 techs were completely insane, obviously.

The calls don't help at all.   They create fouls which made it hard to defend or board.   

We are getting killed on the boards.   I am surprised how well we stayed in the game considering all the calls and our poor shooting.

The refs were pretty atrocious tonight, especially towards us and especially with the techs. However, even if we got more calls, the Heat still would have beat us, they outplayed us by far tonight.

Almost never. Because most teams aren't dumb enough to get 2 DoG violations in the same game. Unfortunately tonight, the Cs were that dumb.

Anybody watching sportscenter right now? (11:45 eastern) Steven A. is just absolutely having a bashfest against the refs and the league right now. Saying how completely ridiculous the techs were and how "there must be something coming from the league" for the refs to call things like that and that "something needs to be done" and fixed. both anchors completely on his side as well.

KG 100% tapped that ball.

The Heat on MULTIPLE occasions did the exact same thing after that and never got warned, T'd or anything.

You know why?  Because it's a foul THEY NEVER CALL.

Yes, it was technically correct, but it was incompatible with the way the rest of the game was called (or the rest of any game has been called all season.)

(The tech on Doc was a joke ... the tech on Ray was a disgrace, harkening back to the "point of enforcement" from a few years ago which dropped by the wayside.)

Someone will come here and say these things didn't cost us the game and they're right, but they didn't help.  Basketball is chaos theory in action ... if we're up 4 at the half instead of tied the 2nd half plays out completely differently.

Still -- we played our C game, they played their B+ game ... can't be surprised we lost.

I get annoyed at KG often for tapping the ball so much on plays like that delay of game.

The T on Ray was a horrible missed call, and the T on Doc seemed quite stupid.

I feel like the Celtics are getting penalized for what Indiana did to Miami. It is like the refs wanted to make sure things didn't get out of hand a bit too early. They should probably gauge the game first and give the teams the benefit of the doubt that they weren't going to go head hunting.

Why Stern care that Smith is complaining? That is part of sports commentary. I wouldn't be surprise if Stern did a bit of a facepalm on the Ray and Doc Ts.
