21. Jeffrey Taylor
22. Quincy Miller

Both are 3's. But if Jeff Green resigns, I think he will be slid to 4 if Doc decide for a small ball lineup. Taylor can play 2 if we decide to play big ball. Plus, we don't know if Pierce will keep playing. We could really use one of them for a trade bait or future piece.

Jeffrey Taylor seems to fit the celtics (and spurs) system. His great perimeter defense will give Rondo and Bradley a sigh of relief. He can also finish to the basket. A perfect complementary for Rondo on his run-and-gun style.

Quincy Miller could be another Avery Bradley. Injuries and inexperience have caused him to underperformed. Have him mentored by the likes of Paul Pierce and he could blossom to a solid NBA player.

This isn't really a Mock draft its a ranking of the top 30 prospects. Also Moe Harkless is going to go before Taylor or Miller. He will probably end up top 15 after workouts.

Other then that I like both players and would be happy to see the celtics end up with one of them. Taylor will be able to contribute from day one as a defensive 3/2 and his ceiling will be somewhere around Jared Dudly. Miller is going to be home run or bust prospect who will take a few seasons to show if he is going to be an NBA player.

I really like them both for our 1st round picks.

Miller at SF, if he pans out, will be tremendous advantage for us. He could play side by side with Jeff Green at forward (3 or 4). At 6'9", he could easily create mismatches with opposing teams. He really could spread the floor and play inside.

Jeffery Taylor, at 6'7", could play at SF and SG posts. He has a very good handle - reminds me of Grant Hill.

I'm guessing if Danny keeps the picks, he lands a 3 and a 4/5 in the first.

One will be a big for sure and one will either be a 2 or a 3 (athletic or a good shooter).  There is no way we pick 2 SF's

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
That mock draft was posted early April. It still has the names of guys who have decided to stay in school on it. There's probably a 0% chance we take two guys of the same position anyways.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Like the Jeffrey Taylor pick.

Can play 2-3. GOOD defender. He can be a productive bench player and eventual starter either at the three or the two.

Quincy Miller is a homerun or strike out kind of pick. Something that I advocate that the Celtics should do.

Of course it all depends on how he pans out. He's got potential but the injury bugs can also affect his development.

While I would like for us to pick at least on dude who can play 5-4, I like these two picks. Especially Taylor.

x2

could easily see a Harkless, Miller, Taylor, or Barton at 21 then  Nicholson, Moultrie, or Ezeli at 22  with some possible moving around to gain another pick on the 30-40 range where danny would likely look at an undersized 4 or 2 like D Green ,K Jones, M Denmon or Stogins

Actually there is a chance. It's not necessary to keep them both though. We can trade one of them for a proven big player or use it to move up in the next draft.

Curiously, scouting reports on Taylor state the following:
Quote
In addition to his significant improvement as a shooter, he has made some progress developing his game off of the dribble. The results here have been mixed overall, however, largely consistent with many of our past observations. While Taylor possesses a quick first step and does look more comfortable putting the ball on the floor, his average ball-handling skills limit him primarily to straight line drives at the basket.

If we can't move up with our two firsts, I'd be pretty happy with and Jeffrey Taylor / Ezeli draft.

I'm intrigued by Ezeli. Haven't watched him play much but they say he's very tough and physical in the paint and has a long wing span. If he could develop into a Perkins type defender and a decent rebounder, he could be a very good fit for an uptempo, fast break team built around Rondo.

Perkins is no run/jump athlete - is Ezeli at least at Perkin's level athletically?

Does anyone know much about him?

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.

I run the Vandy blog Anchor of Gold, so I have covered Ezeli, Taylor, and John Jenkins's careers pretty heavily over the past 3-4 years. Here's the scoop on Festus:

He's been a NBA prospect since arriving on campus solely based on his strength and athleticism. He's got a big body, high motor, and the strength to handle anyone at the NCAA level in the paint. Physically, a good comparison would be Nene. He really shows off his strength/explosion at the rim, where he became known for rim bending dunks as a junior/senior.

His senior year was up-and-down. He missed several games due to the NCAA (accepting a hotel room on a trip) and a knee injury that he never really got back to 100% from. Since Vandy struggled out of the gate, he probably came back sooner than would have been prudent - but he also drove this team to several big wins despite playing about 80-85%.

His defense is way ahead of his offense, but he's still developing. When he came to Vandy he had only played one year of organized basketball. His rebounding numbers are misleading. They're low since Vandy utilized him almost exclusively as a help defender/shot blocker rather than putting him in position for defensive rebounds. The 'Dores gave up plenty of extremely frustrating offensive boards as a result...but it also deterred opposing guards from getting to the rim (a weakness with the Vandy backcourt).

He'll continue to develop and his size and strength alone will give him a career in the league. He's shown nothing but commitment to the game and has improved every year as a player. He'll never be a first option on offense, but he can be a very good complementary player while giving you good-to-great post defense.

Of course, the learning curve is still there, and it may take a bit longer for him to develop than some teams are willing to put into a 23 year old. Still, I think that he'll be a good investment for a team late in the first.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.
