Does Rondo get along with his teammates?

I don't know about you, but I personally loved seeing this because Rondo IS that important and everyone knows it!

I think its just part of the chemistry on the team. Rondo is the most talented guy on the team, and a lot of times he's the guy as much as anyone on whom success or failure ultimately hang.

But, its Pierce's team, then KG's. I wouldn't presume to know how Rondo and Ray shake out after that, but Rondo is a clear subordinate in this structure.

And sometimes guys are the top of the pyramid need to bust some butt, and say/do unpopular things. Pierce thought Rondo needed to be slapped, I don't see it as much of a 'story'.

Let's face it, playing 40 minutes of play-off basketball every other night is physically and mentally exhausting, especially for Rondo and the all out way he plays. He's the center of the offense and then has to turn around and pick up the other point guard near half court.

Expecting him to get a triple double every other night indefinitely is to deny the physical and mental toll of such all out efforts.

Expect a huge game 7 with two days off to catch his breath, and expect another off game or two in the next round should the Celtics advance.

I don't see Pierce and Ray slapping each other on the head after off-games. Otherwise Ray would be a black and blue mound of post-concussion syndrome.

I'm sure there's some truth to Rondo's perspective as well. Pierce and Ray have Hall-of-Fame sized egos, and I remember how their effort level would drop off in exact inverse proportion to how much Rondo took on a scoring role in some regular season games.

I also think the whole issue is overblown, and we've seen other teams melt down much worse in these play-offs.

I feel like Rondo gets more than his share of criticism. Whenever Rondo has an off game, he gets accused of being "not engaged" mentally.

He certainly plays more/less aggressively at times, but who doesn't? We just notice it more because he has the ball on every offensive possession.

I mean, how is KG going into the post any different? Some games he does it, some he doesn't. We all want him to do it 100% of the time. Yet, I feel like he gets much more of a free pass.

I don't think KG gets more of a free pass, I think the difference between a 'vintage KG' performance of 28 pts and 12 boards in 35 minutes, and a 'bum' KG performance of 14 points and 8 boards is whether or not his shots fall. He's pretty much the same guy all the time, we just get annoyed at his aversion to taking higher percentage shots when his perclivity to taking lower-percentage jump shots bites us in the butt.

Now Rondo on the other hand can look like a completely different style player from game to game, dependent much on his willingness to attack the basket.

Not that i think Rondo is maddeningly inconsistent or anything, but when he is inconsistent, it is pretty maddening.

The Sixers are taking KG out of the game.

For the entire playoffs so far, KG was in the post, scoring in the paint, and occasionally taking jumpshots, but he was banging down low and scoring at will in the post, which is what the team had missed for years.

Sixers in game 3 or 4 then started double teaming KG every time he got the ball in the post, forcing him to pass to ball to an open man, who in turn cannot hit open jumpers.

The risk of double teaming is that shooters can make open shots, but we have nobody that can make open shots on the team.

Pierce is hobbled, cant make open shots.
Ray is hobbled, cant make any shots.
Rondo cant make shots.
Bass is in a huge slump, used to be able to make open shots, not anymore.

The winning combination against the Celtics is to make anyone but KG beat you right now, if you can double KG and make him pass the ball to wide open shooters, you will win the game because the Celtics arent a very good shooting team currently, with all the injuries.

Haha WOW that video is playing at like 5x normal speed to make it look a lot worse than it was. Look how fast doc moves through the screen or how fast the paper on chair behind them is moving. They showed it in game and it was not a slap, it was a bigger brother "get your head out of your butt, we got this, now lets go" type of thing with minimal force behind it.

  KG's had a bunch of games with double digit rebounds, and some with 5-7 boards. He's had a bunch of games with 3-5 blocks and a bunch of games with none. He took 20 shots in the last game, not a single one within 10 feet of the basket. Some games he has 6-8 close attempts, some games 2 or less. Unless you can show me a boatload of posts about how KG isn't engaged or doesn't put in a decent effort in a fair amount of his playoff games, he's clearly getting a free pass compared to Rondo.

  In game 6 the Celts were 13-47 on their jump shots. The guys start missing shots, then they start hesitating before they shoot and sometimes pass when they have the shot. The sixers can then do a better job of packing the lane. I think that may be somewhat related to Rondo's inability to get to the rim during that game.

That's just a friendly "get your act together" head tap.  The look on Rondo's face spells frustration of loosing in my opinion rather than ignoring Pierce
