1) I'd like to see the Bobcats miss on the top pick. I don't mean that in a negative way, though. I think Anthony Davis is the kind of defensive force who can turn a team average in a hurry. With the little they have to build around him, it'd be a recipe for mediocrity. Instead, I hope they pick third and pick up a solid big man or a defensive minded wing. Then, I hope the lottery gods repay them with Shabazz Muhammad, a player I think will be a superstar scorer. If the Bobcats could roll with Kemba-Shabazz-Henderson-Robinson-Biyombo after the 2013 draft, it'd be quite the core group.
2) I really want to see the Cavs get Davis at 1. If this were to happen, I'd put my distaste aside for Cleveland and Gilbert to applaud the Cavs on building something special. Irving, Davis, Varejao is a nice top 3, and I like Thompson, Gee and the chance of picking up a potential starter in the first they got from the Lakers. They're set up well to trade some pieces in the near future as they build around Irving and Davis if they win the lottery.
3) I want to see either the Pistons or Raptors get the second pick and for whichever team does to grab Drummond. The Pistons with Drummond/Monroe would be set up well for the ridiculous contracts to expire that the team has. Drummond, Monroe, Knight and a bunch of
Cap space in a couple years? Amazing.
Meanwhile the Raptors would help themselves out a lot with Drummond. If Jonas is any good when he comes over, they would be a great duo. DeRozan might make further steps still, and Bargs could succeed as a scorer if the rest of the team learned to play inside. It'd be a risky squad, but there'd be potential.
4) Obviously, this hurts the Wizards a little bit. They lose the top 3 picks in this scenario. Fortunately, they do so while getting a chance to pickup the best wings in the draft. I think their first order of business should be to load this team with athletic, defensive players who will be able to run the break with Wall. MKG makes a lot of sense, and he would really be a steal at 4. Wall/MKG/Nene is a great start for this team.
5) New Orleans is a team that I want to see add the best talent available in both spots. I think a draft where they get Barnes and Henson would be incredible. Lots of talent, familiarity, and maybe they can convince Gordon to sign long term. Gordon/Barnes/Henson is a solid group, and Okafor is a great 5 for that group.
6) I'd like to see Sacramento move out of the first in this scenario. Maybe find a desperate team to give them a PG or big man. None of the guys available fit well in Sacramento unless they trade Tyreke. Barring any trade, I'd want them to go for the gold with Perry Jones. He'd be an interesting addition to a team with Boogie Cousins.
7/8) Portland and Golden State should just try and add talent. Both teams could use a scorer, and both teams would see one fall into their laps in Beal and Lamb.
9) Back to Detroit and Toronto. Whichever of the two teams doesn't win the second pick in my hopeful scenario will be here. I'd like to see the Pistons go for Moultrie to pair with Monroe. If the Raptors are here, I'd say they should snag Rivers. Potential big time scorer is never a bad thing here.
My hope is that the Pistons win the second pick and Drummond goes to them.
10) Portland has a chance to do something special in this draft. With Aldridge already around, they can make a quick turnaround. Say they pick Beal with the Nets pick. If that were to happen, I'd have to hope they pick a PG like Lillard or Marshall. Suddenly this is a team that would be loaded with talent.
11) Finally, I hope that Zeller doesn't go in the lottery because he looks like a
