I've done a complete 180 on Lebron James.

I've never really liked him and he's easy to hate, but only because he's so exceptionally talented everything comes easily to him.

The more I watch him the more impressed I am. You honestly can't knock his game. This is a kid who legitimately could be the best ever(I know, I know, still a long way to go).

I've directed all my hatred a had toward him at Dwyane Wade. What a jerk.

While Wade does suck more, I can't believe you've done a 180. I've turned about 20 degrees away from absolutely hating Lebron.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

The Miami Heat are the worst thing to happen in the league since the L.A. Lakers.

TP for this

Yeah, that dude's pretty darned good at playing basketball.  I still hate him.

get use to em.  King James isn't going anywhere anytime soon.  I'll be rooting for them in the FInals.  Can't let the Zombie Sonics win.  It'll depress the heck out of my friends here in Seattle.

Will you be rooting for them in the Eastern conference finals as well?
DO you mean if Philly beats us tonight?  Yes... absolutely.  I'll be 100% on board with Miami the second the Celtics are eliminated.

I have no problem with LeBron James.  Most people hate him.  I don't.  I think he's incredible.  I've followed his career to some extent since I first saw him on the cover of Sports Illustrated as a kid.  Saw his nationally televised ESPN game as a high schooler and he more than lived up to expectations.  Watched him as a rookie and was impressed by his ability as a teenager.  Watched him carry a garbage Cleveland team to the Finals... one of the most brilliant individual performances ever against the Pistons to get there.  Then saw him clearly become the greatest player in the game today...  Unfortunately (for him) coinciding with the formation of our Big 3.  The Celtics owned him in Cleveland (much like the Pistons owned a young Jordan).  He paid his dues... the guy has been in the league for years.  He's the same age as JOrdan when he won his first title.  I'll be happy for Bron if he wins a title.  He certainly has worked hard enough to get to the top of the mountain.

I get why people hate him for "The Decision".  Even with "The Decision" I give him a bit of a pass.  #1 - Cleveland sucks.  I would have bailed for Miami too.   #2 - I have no sympathy for Dan Gilbert... he made the dumb decision to buy the team with LeBron already on it.  Talk about buying high.  Clearly those two weren't very close.  #3 - From my few run-ins with Cavs fans on various message boards during LeBron's prime... I thought they were a bunch of whiny front-running punks.  No sympathy for their fanbase.   #4 - "The Decision" TV Special was incredibly stupid, but I blame that more on Bron's handlers than Bron himself.  People seem to forget that this is EXACTLY what everyone wanted.  I remember Bill Simmons writing about it a year before...  how LeBron should televise his decision nationally like a College recruit picking his team... with three team hats in front of him and then he picks one up and puts it on. Simmons joked that if it was on Pay Per View, he'd pay money to see it.   Then LeBron actually does what everyone wanted (high drama televised decision with part of the proceeds going to charity) and everyone hates him.  Don't get me wrong... it was executed poorly and in retrospect it was a horrible idea, but I enjoyed the heck out of it. #5 - Everyone talked about how moving to Miami would tarnish his legacy... how he'd be 2nd banana to Dwayne Wade and never reach his individual potential.  Meh... for what it's worth, LeBron just wrapped up one of the most impressive statistical seasons in the history of basketball and won his 3rd MVP award (should have been 4th in a row, but nobody was willing to give it to him last year... I said at the time that Rose would go down as one of the most overrated MVP winners in NBA history).  Wade and Bosh are clearly talented, but that's Bron's team and nobody doubts who would be Finals MVP if it gets that far....

When the dust settles what you have here is a wildly entertaining, INCREDIBLY talented superhuman basketball player that deserves our appreciation as fans of the sport.  Look... when I was a young kid I HATED Jordan.  Especially when I was REALLY young in the early 90s and the Celtics were still mildly relevant.  I saw Jordan as a threat to Larry and as a little 8 year old.   I didn't give a crap when Jordan retired in 93.  I was 11 years old.  He was the enemy.  But when he came back a couple years later the excitement was too much to avoid.  By the time the guy retired the 2nd time around, I freakin adored MIchael Jordan.  He was a basketball god.  How could you hate Jordan?... he was unbelievably talented.  He was the star of stars.  You just had to appreciate his brilliance.  I'm seeing that same thing happen with Kobe Bryant, actually.  As Kobe has gotten older I'm starting to see people starting to ease off on the hate a bit.  Even some (sicko) Celtic fans have showed appreciation and respect for the guy's talent... going as far as to say they'd root for Kobe if the Celtics got eliminated.  I understand where these Kobe apologists are coming from, because it's the same place I was coming from as a kid warming to Jordan.  That said, I think you're all high on crack... Kobe is a Laker... I'll hate him forever.   Kobe can die in a fire for all I care.  I'll never root for a Laker.  But Bron?... Bron plays on the freakin Miami Heat.  As a Celtic fan why on earth would I care if the Miami freakin Heat win a title?  They have nothing to do with me (I actually rooted for them in 2006, because I wanted Shaq to one-up Kobe).  Eventually people are going to warm to LeBron and appreciate him for his talent.  I'm just ahead of the curve this time around.

It's funny,

as a kid I loved Jordan and I do not like LeBron now.

LeBron just doesnt have a winning mentality in my opinion and he is an egomaniac.  I think he is a little better with the ego thing as the public backlash humbled him a little.

They guy still can't impose his will on a close game consistently.

try arguing with a kid who claims that Lebron can score 200 pts if he wanted to  ::)

but yeh, I hate Lebron and Kobe, but the difference is I respect Kobe cuz he wants to win and shows it on the court. Lebron is very talented but I hate him as a person and as a player. And as all of you in the above have already said, he disappears when it matters the most! Kobe may be a ball hog but you can see the heart in him when he's losing and he refuses to lose (even if it means taking 20 shots lol). I used to like Lebron when he was in Cleveland cuz i thought if he won, it would've been so special. Then the way he turned on them was so disrespectful and very un-classy.

I'll be rooting for the Celtics til the very end! And I WANT Rondo to show a little revenge against them by playing hard and very very aggressive

I hate the Heat. Not because they have two great players but simply because the whole Heat phenomenon is so unbelievably fake and phony. Ever since that ridiculous championship parade they threw just for getting together, all their coverage and hype is just Stern/ESPN driven garbage to drive up ratings....or whatever ridiculous reason. It's just awful. There is no togetherness on that team, no real Pride. Just two talented guys on the same team. Bosh is a fraud, Spo is a fraud.

The Celtics are a real TEAM, with real toughness and pride. The contrast is startling. How could anyone like the phony Heat?

I was happy for them when they won in '06--get Alonzo Mourning a ring, watch Wade prove he was possibly one of the best SG's in the league.

All the guys that've made it up since that team (which is, uh, Haslem Wade & Spolestra?) don't bother me. They've got bandwagon fans and a ridiculous sense of entitlement, but that's what happens to any sports team when they start winning. It happened to us, too.

But calling Wade & Lebron "two talented guys on the same team" is kind of like saying "Kevin Garnett might care a little bit about basketball."

Anyway, we're laying waste to them tonight, and the response will be straight out of Clay-Liston.

They shook up the world!
