Would Danny consider trading Rondo for Portland's two 1st round draft picks #6 and #11 assuming lottery goes as planned?

Gives the Celtics even more cap space and plenty of options.
This would also allow the Celts to go after D. Williams .

I would do this if KG is retiring or asking for too much $$.

#6 - Jared Sullinger? Perry Jones?
#11 - Terrence Jones
Trade #21 and #22 with Houston for #16 and draft A. Rivers

none of those guys will come close to having the impact on a game the way Rondo does. Rondo is a top 20 player ,only 26 and under a great contract.

Unless I am getting Anthony Davis, no thanks

Wouldn't trade Rondo for any picks unless we were getting the best passing PG available and Andre Drummond. No brainer.

Can't we just bring Gerald Green back?

I don't care if Rondo doesn't try 100% for every regular season game.

He's a proven star in the Play-offs.

You don't win championships in the regular season.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I think the op's point is that we would be replacing Rondo with DWill for free. Problem is, when DWill signs with Dallas, the trade doesn't seem as strong.

Trading Rondo for lottery picks is a terrible idea... actually trading him at all is a terrible idea.

This year proved why this team needs him for the future. He runs the offense, big 3 or no big 3. It boggles me ppl still want to trade this guy id be p(i)ssed if he was

Not enough value for Rondo and why would DWill come here to rebuild?  He'd be better off staying with the Nets for more money and with more talent to build upon.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
For Batum + the two 1sts, it'd be a fair package. Not one I'd feel great about, but one I wouldn't fight with.

rondo is the best point guard in the game, and he is signed to us on a budget contract long term. its the perfect situation. why would you trade that?

Well, the price would have to be pretty high, wouldn't it?

Allstar for Allstar rarely happens, so it would have to be a blockbuster or multiplayer rebuilding trade, which means it won't happen, and also why it hasn't happened yet.

But there's also a reason other teams aren't too anxious to pay Danny's price, whatever it may be.  Danny probably wants high odds of at least doubling his money...like by getting a high lotto pick plus a top prospect or established not-quite-allstar and hoping to end up swapping one allstar for two.

How many drafts in the last 20 years have players at #6 and #11 that you'd rather have than Rondo?

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Rondo SHOULD only be traded for...

A.) a bonafide superstar that is no older than 28.
B.) a package that includes a near all star level talent or starter quality PG. (Lowry, Calderon, Curry and the likes and pick/s and/or a couple more names)
C.) a package that includes a top 3 pick and players that Celtics could use.

Rondo's production and his contract is very valuable. Multiple 1st round picks isn't enough.

I think you can argue that Rondo is a peer among the best PGs in the game, but I don't think by any measure you can state it as fact. Could rondo have brought the clippers as far as CP3 did? Would he have done better with nj? With the suns? Could he have captained the spurs as well? Would he have done as good or better in okc?

Among those questions, only okc do I find probable.

Also could he have done as well with chicago's roster?

Can we put a stop to threads involing trading Rondo? Especially ones that make no sense such as this one, and help us out in no way. Can we accept that Rondo is a top 3 point guard in this league (top 2 in my eyes) and accept how good he really is? Top 3 point guard in the league!! Who trades a player of that caliber? Oye!
