How about Gasol to Atlanta for Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, and Jeff Teague?

Would Atlanta do it? Would the Lakers? Does it make the teams better?

Smith for Gasol is my nightmare.

Gasol-Horford compliment each other perfectly, a nightmare tandem that would get the absolute best out of each. I can see the Lakers doing it, and I can see the Hawks becoming an immediate contender because of it.

Same here. I was thinking this is a perfect trade for Atlanta. For La they do get athletic and a young pg but they don't really get the shooting they need from the four spot. But all three of those guys make LA much more athletic.

I'm convinced LA management is similar to these sports-radio callers who are always calling to "blow it up." They hear these buzzwords and become obsessed with change regardless of if they have plan of action or not.

They "needed" a young, athletic PG who could create for the whole team and take them in a new direction. Then they acquire Ramon Sessions and ask him to be Derek Fisher.

Now they'll try to move Gasol to get 'more athletic' or 'younger', and then they'll still focus the offense around getting Kobe his touches and have him chuck up bad shot after bad shot.

Gasol sucks. Hes washed up.

No way Atlanta trades Smith for Gasol. Smith is lightyears better then that softy.

I came up with several response-drafts, and I'm sure they'd all get edited. So I'll just say that I disagree with you.

I heard NBC has decided to non-renew Parks and Rec in order to make room for a new Dax Shepard/Dane Cook vehicle about two lawyers who moonlight as lucha libre wrestlers on the weekends, but neither one knows the other one does it because they both wear masks. But they fall for the same ringside girl (Tara Reid), and their identities come out in a fun-packed thrill ride. Its going to be called "Masking The Truth"

That's what NBC is gonna have replace Parks and Rec.

hahaha, well done, sir.

(1) Chris Bosh - a lateral move talent wise but Bosh is younger
(2) Iguodala and Lou Williams
(3) Sign and trade for Deron Williams
(4) I wonder if there is a way to get Steph Curry. Probably need a three team deal.
(5) Monta Ellis + lottery pick. Maybe try to work Ersan Ilyasova into a sign and trade and make it a future protected draft pick instead of this year's lotto pick.
(6) Gallo + two role players trade package

In thinking about it. How is a team built around Gasol, Horford, and Joe Johnson better then Kobe, Gasol, and Bynum?

Gasol is far from washed up. 17/10/4 this year as the 3rd option on his team, no PG, and the world's worst teammate - Kobe Bryant. It makes me sick how he throws Pau under the bus. How many games does Kobe shoot the Lakers *out* of? How many post-Shaq titles does Kobe win without Pau?

Put Gasol at center in the east, with teammates that actually support him, and he could give you 20/10/5/2 next year.

I only wish there was a sane way for us to get him, but I don't see us moving Rondo, Pierce or a giant pile of young players + all of our cap room (Bradley, JJJ, several picks, etc).

Team A has better spacing, balance, and players playing to their strengths.

Team B reduces Gasol to an afterthought, instead of option 1B.

Gasol - Horford would be the best frontline out East. Boy I hope that one doesn't happen..

Wonder if LA could be talked into JaFail.

Would LOVE to see Gasol be the centerpiece for a George Karl coached team.

Horford is a better defensive 4 than Gasol and both Gasol/Horford can hit a jumpshot.

Though the difference between JJ and Kobe still looms large even with Kobe's decline.

Horford is an incredible gifted passer, too. Combined with the shooting skills and Gasol's passing, they'd create A LOT of good looks for each other. Could build them in the mold of those late 90's early 00's Kings teams that were such a delight to watch.

And while Kobe is clearly an upgrade over JJ, I think Joe would have an easier time deferring - allowing the offense to run through the post.

edit: I'm a huge Horford guy. I think he's one of the best players in this league, whose consistently been underutilized.

Maybe the hawks will be a bit better with that move I still don't think they'd be a top team in the east. Probably right around where they were this year.

The main thing would be getting Horford back period. And hoping that he is healthy and remains healthy for these prime years

They (Hawks) wouldn't trade Smith straight up for Gasol, why would they add in Teague, maybe Williams to get rid of contract...

Both the Hawks and Lakers will be looking to unload salary so I really don't see a match between them..

No way.  That doens't help the Rockets at all.  Why would they want Barnes?

Why would they want Barnes when they could trade Steve Blake + cash for a guy like Paul George?
