I understand being p---ed off with the team when they lose games, especially games they shouldn't, but are people really fans if they can give up on these guys so easily, and say some of the mean spirited things that they are saying about specific players?

My goodness, just face it that the Celtics are a team that, more often than that, makes it harder on themselves than it needs to be. As great as they are, they have their moments when they are beyond frustrating, and sometimes the blame can be targeted at a specific player, but more times than not, the blame can be targeted at all of the above.

Would we love a sweep? Sure. Would we love to have gone up 3-1? Sure. I understand the benefit of a rest that these Celtics can get for themselves if they win early, but however it pans out, they have to deal with it. At the end of the day, you get no points for going up 3-1 or going up 3-0. All that matters is one team gets to 4 wins before the other team does.

This is not a beauty contest. The team that wins a series after going up 3-1, or after going up 3-0 is no better than the team that fought and scratched their way to 4 wins in 6 or 7 games after being down 1-0, or being tied 2-2. At the end of the day, as long as they advance, it's a clean slate.

Yea, we don't like to see the Celtics play down to the competition sometimes, and, yes, we don't like to see the Celtics squander big leads, but we just have to accept the fact that this is the Boston Celtics. They are not the super consistent, well oiled machine that will look invincible for large stretches.

Support the team, man. Support the team! Stop acting like just because they mess up and make stupid mistakes, you want them to fail as a punishment. Support the team!

I tried to give you a TP, but apparently I've already given you one within the last hour.

Anyway, TP in spirit.  The negativity gets way too ugly during the playoffs.  I think folks are just getting frazzled by the pressure.  Talk about the players being not tough enough mentally, I think the fan base could use a little more mental toughness to try to fight through the playoffs intact.

While I understand the sentiment, and there's a lot of good stuff in the original post, I'm not impressed with the "are people really fans" stuff.

As our rules state:

Quote
Do not label fellow posters in a way that is likely to provoke a negative response.  Dependent upon context, examples include, but are not limited to, "fake fan", "bandwagon fan", "not a real fan", "hater", "homer", "koolaid drinker", etc.

Feel free to start a new thread without the labeling / calling out of others.  Locked.
