That's not to say they're the reason the Celtics lost the game. They called it consistently tight on both ends of the floor and on both teams. My problem is that ticky tack crap calls made on both teams made that game almost unbearable to watch.

Question: one of the referees I've been annoyed with over the years is Bill Kennedy, every time he has a Celtics game I almost know that we're not getting calls. Is his relationships with Doc Rivers or the Celtics organization as a whole something you know about.

Donaghy: That's a difficult question for me to answer because I certainly don't want to offend anybody... I'm just gonna come out and say it like it is.  It's no secret on the staff that Bill Kennedy is a homosexual... I don't have any ill will towards gays or lesbians, but it was no secret that he's a homosexual.  It was known around the league, it was obvious during a game Doc Rivers questioned his sexual orientation and I think that has stuck with Kennedy over the years and he has no love for Doc Rivers and the Boston Celtics

The refs stunk, but the Celtics stunk worse.

They decided to get into a dogfight with a younger, quicker dog. And lost. They cant win close games against this team, the Sixers get 2 to 3 shot attempts every single possession in the 4th quarter because the C's are out of gas and the young sixers arent.

Bill Kennedy was a ref in the series clinching win against the Atlanta Hawks, where many people on this blog, including myself, agreed that the Hawks had every right to be absolutely irate about the officiating being bias towards the Celtics.

Are we all just gonna pretend that didnt happen now so we can keep with this fascination about Kennedy hating the Celtics?  I thought the officiating was bad myself, and I do think that they went out of their way to try and keep the Sixers in the game for entertainment purposes.

But stop with this Kennedy nonsense

I agree that the lose shouldnt be and cant be blamed on the refs... however, youre right, the game was a terriibly officiated game. It didnt really give an advantage to either team however... They were just completely inconsistent throughout the entire game for both teams.

Bill Kennedy Celtics, google it. Top 10 hits are how much he hates the Celtics, cos Doc questioned his sexuality.

Why does Stern keep letting him officiate our key games

The NBA has a vested interest to extend series.   I seen subsidies before but the free throw subsidy was someone else here.  Stern let's these travesties and questionable calls persist yet the NBA claims to review every game.   Games like this do not make one confident that the officiating is on the level or the games not rigged.

That being said we had some horrific droughts.  It must be hard to play when you know your not going to win because of the refs.

If you read Personal Foul, the book by Donaghy, you will learn that in order to get the good officiating gigs from Stearn, you do what you can to extend a series like this. The NBA does not want this series to go 5 games. When the C's threatened to blow this game open early, this official, stepped in and made sure that didn't happen. It is sooo obvious it is unbelievable. Once you have read the book you really will never look at the NBA in the same way again. If you want the playoff bonus money, you play the game. Call as you see em? You get the next Kings/Hornets game!

Lakers go to the line 42 times, 14 more than there opponents and win by 3 in a game the Lakers HAD to win to extend the series.

Same night, Sixers go to the line 36 times, 17 more than there opponents and win by 9 in a game the Sixers HAD to win to extend the series.

Only 2 other times in these playoff in the last two weeks has FT numbers hit this height, game 4 for Clippers/Grizzlies(Clippers won by 4 after shooting 40 FT, 13 more than Grz) and game 1 Miami/Indiana when Miami got 38 FTs, 12 in the last quarter when the pulled away after the game was tied after 3.

I'm believing Tim Donaghy more and more every day.

There is no doubt the refs stepped in to keep it close.  I saw it and knew it when it happened.  Look at the free throw disparity.  C's, especially KG, was getting hacked regularly on the arms and the refs overlooked it.  EVERY TIME a 76er went to the basket a foul was called.  It started soon after the C's got way ahead.  The refs kept it close period.  Any one that watches NBA games knows this has gone on since the beginning of time.

Don't believe it?  Explain how the Lakers got 42 free throws last night!!!!!!!!

When the boys start to get physical the refs relieve the pressure with all kinds of calls.
They don't want a riot. The refs didn't stink when they let us run up  a couple big leads did they..
