Just horrible. Typical classless laker fan behavior. I'd like them to point out what Blake was meant to do other than try to make the shot.

Quote
“I hope your family gets murdered,” read one tweet that Kristen Blake re-tweeted along with a single comment: “Wow.”

It shouldn't be too hard to track down the threat. How many Lakers fans actually know who Steve Blake is?

I agree its atrocious and putrid but dont like the pettiness that you make it a laker fan thing...there are perfectly competent lakers fans....would you want one pathetic boston fan to paint us all a certain way? this same thing exists in all fanbases.
There were racist tweets from Boston fans about an athlete not even a month ago

Ah, the joys of twitter, where everyone thinks they are a faceless, nameless, voice to say whatever they want.

...although to be fair, the tweet you quoted isn't really a threat IMO.  It is classless, but there is a world of difference between saying "I will murder your family", and "I hope your family gets murdered".

But still, I have a feeling this will play out the way the racists tweets about the game winning goal scorer in the B's series played out.  Some of these tweeters will be outed by the media (and they will turn out to be 16 year olds who don't understand that this stuff is REALLY public), they will get run through by the media for a few days, then it will all disappear.

all you have to do is browse the HEAT and LAKERS forums ...lots of foul mouthed brainless teens .  Just read though sometime, wishing death to players , coachs and their families.... it horrific stuff.... just lack of maturity.

Glade our forum is a bit more civil.

Yes, I am glad too.  Although not to toot our own horn too much, but I think this is something specific to Celticsblog, not online Celtics forums in general.  I have seen some attrocious things on other Celtics forums.

It seems that is just how some people act, when they are left to their own devices, and given a mask of anonymity, which the internet provides.  The internet has taken the fake tough guy routine to a new level.

Celticsblog is definitely an unique forum in that competent ideas are actually exchanged in a civil manner.  Kudos to the moderators who keep it that way.  Establishing an identity is a good way to clean up the act since you start to care about your reputation here as your tommy points build up (an ingenious way to keep this place sane by the way).

On ESPN or any news articles, nobody cares about their reputation so they don't even give their comments a second thought.  I always view them as a sewer system where trash from people's minds go.  I thought the comment feature at the end of news articles was a neat idea 5 years ago but I don't even bother scrolling further down after the end of an article.

I respect Lakers fans- they know their basketball.  Maybe it's because I read the Blue and Gold Forum from time to time and enjoy their insights.  If you weed out the teenagers and the simple minded fans, they're decent folks who just root for the wrong team. :)

The internet can be a nasty, nasty place.

Props to Jeff, Roy and all the rest of the moderators for keeping this place civil and sane.

So ridiculous and absurd.  But can happen just to about any team...after my 9ers lost the NFC championship, K. Williams got all sorts of nasty stuff via twitter et all....and that's from supposedly classy San Franciscans...actually in reading a Lakers forum I frequent, most seemed to blame Kobe for this loss.

People can be so mean.  Just ridiculous, and over a game. ::)

Stupid, stupid behavior.  At the same time, we shouldn't judge their whole fan base by this. It's a lot like the moronic Bruins fans who were tweeting racist hatred on twitter after the Bs playoff loss. Some in the media used that to criticize Bruins fans in general, and that wasn't right.

Los Angeles fans in general seem to have bad tempers when they lose... remember when those Dodger fans beat a Giants fan into a coma the night they lost to San Francisco? It seems to be a recurring them with them after a loss... When I lived in Southern California and wore my Celtics jersey around I would lots of stuff said to me, and not very nice stuff either. Not to single them out but it does suck living in SoCal when you don't support their teams.
Take me where the Boston Celtics fans roam free without judgment from my enemies.
