  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Exactly.
We had Pierce limping around, Ray and Pietrus limping around.
Avery went down in the first quarter (or second?), and we still could have won this game.
In fact if Avery doesn't go out we probably win this game comfortably because Turner isn't getting to the hole half as much.
As soon as he came back in the C's cut off their interior penetration.

Don't get too worried. Horrid 3 quarters without our key on ball defender. We'll be fine.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

76ers played about as well as tjey could have, hitting some tough shots while the c's have been abysmal offensively and yet the games were winnable...I think there's a game where we finally start hittong our open jumpers and beat them

I think the c's underestimated the 76ers and they really javent come out with a sense of urgency. I think tjey will tomorrow night

I agree but we could really use a consistent effort from Rondo for 35 + minutes. I really hope he does that tomorrow.

Ill tip my hat to them once they win the series....which looks entirely possible...not so confident theyre getting game 3...as a matter of fact I expect the celtics to get annihilated and run off the floor... expect an explosion from lou williams, loud transition dunks from Iggy and role players like Jodie meeks to be drilling 3's ..biggest game for the 76ers team in a decade...gonna be nuts in phili

I think almost every Celtics fan felt the same way about the games in Boston, and look how those turned out.  Our defense will not let a blowout happen in this series.  Mark my words.

If Pierce's knee doesn't improve a little bit, I think we're in serious trouble this series. Iggy made life tough for a healthy Pierce. A hobbled Pierce? No chance. I don't see Paul having a single great game in this series unless he starts healing quickly. He's the one guy on our team who could bail us out on offense somewhat consistently, and I don't see him being able to do that at all in this series with his knee vs. Iggy. Granted, we still might be able to win, but its not going to be easy. At best, I see us winning in 6 or 7.

Take some advice from Ray Allen. This is pretty much it. Yes, they made mistakes, and don't think for a second that this Celtics team aren't more aware of those mistakes and missed chances than we are. They will look to make the necessary adjustments, and come out to win it big in game 3.

Ray: "Down the stretch, there were 3 shots they made, you almost have to tip your hat to them. When we needed stops, they made those plays."

Oh bull crap. The core of the team is old and creaky. We were lucky to win the first game here. The Sixers will run our arses off and KG will look like a Guppy sucking air in a fish bowl. I hope he works on his  pick sets. He's a notorious moving pick and the whole League knows it. Critical moving pick call late that had a hand in us losing. Doesn't make much difference. We pay the Fiddler now or against Miami.

Just tip your hat, folks. The 76ers hit some unbelievable shots late in the game, and when I say unbelievable, I mean unbelievable. The Celtics are a veteran squad. They'll take care of business next game. They are the superior team, and the superior team will win this series.

When a team scores only 82 points, as the Sixers did tonight, you shouldn't have to get stops late--you should be beating them by at least 10 points. They could've beat the Hawks in 5, possibly 4, and gotten some good rest, and they could've beat the Sixers in 4 and gotten some good rest. These guys just love to make things harder for themselves, and unfortunately it'll probably always be this way with this core.

If at the end of the day the Celtics make the Finals and win the championship, will you care that we didn't have any sweeps? I say relax. People are getting too worked up. Normally I'd be bummed, but you guys gotta keep positive. In a way we are all apart of this. We know the team messed up. We saw how they messed up. They know they messed up.

Let's keep things positive. Believe it or not, Celtics players read this site. I'm not saying we can't criticize them, but some of the things being said are just terrible. It's now a series, and the Celtics will take care of business.

Maybe it is better that we actually lost last night. It can actually shorten the series if the Celtics are forced to find another gear and they get it and sustain it. I have seen a lot of cases where the stronger team got clipped in Game 2 on their home court only to break out and win Games three and four on the road before closing out in five. We get to learn which team is legit or not tomorrow in Game three and Friday in Game four. We have the mental stigma of two bad blowout losses in Philly though... Only one more obstacle to get through, but there is still the opportunity to do something this Campaign.

Serious trouble?

We have a lot of advantages over this Sixers team. A healthy Pierce we are done in 4. A not healthy Pierce is  a 6 game series.

Its not like AI is destroying Pierce on either end anyway. Its pretty much been a wash

Stop making excuses for the team.

They lost because like Barkley said, they dont have any respect for the 76ers and played accordingly. This is the same team that has played down to competition for the past 5 years.

They dont take lesser teams seriously and let them hang around, what made you think this would be any different. Sixers dont even have a star player.

I'd bet my life on it that the C's win this series. Celtics have been letting lesser opponents steal games for 5 straight years.

P.S. I didnt see Pierce, Ray, or Pietrus "limping" around. In fact, Pierce didnt even wear his knee brace this game.

They played like trash and lost to a trash team, as they have been doing for the past 5 years.

Uh, lets us hope that the Celtics don't believe that and Coach Collins does not read that to copy it off and post it the locker room bulletin board.

I don't think we should expect blowouts in this series.  Philly had the 3rd best defense in the NBA this year, behind Chicago and Boston.  They're going to make things tough for us.

I'd say last night was more bad offense than good defense from them. I thought that Philly was struggling to get good shots and the Celts were struggling to make good shots.

Oh you mean like 8 wide open shots from bass?

I think that's Tim's point.  The Cs weren't knocking down shots that they generally make.

If we shoot like we did last night we won't beat anyone. If we shoot better than we did we'll beat Philly.

One of the one times you were glad you were wrong?  ;D

I am sure game 4 won't be as easy but I think we win.
