Good win last night, but I'm with Jeff...

...last night was the worst triple double I've ever seen in an NBA game.

Rondo is a great player. He is supposed to be a fireball of energy, but the issue with him is that he is also a cerebral type of player.

When he can't balance the two he looks like he isn't in the game and the perception that he isn't in the game causes a lot of frustration.

-For nearly 3 quarters, Rondo was fighting himself as much as he was battling the Sixers.

-He made numerous careless/inappropriate passes (sometimes to the wrong player and at the wrong time).

-He turned down a number of open lanes for open layups, instead opting to pass through traffic.

-It seemed when Dooling was running the point we got into our offense better and he was able to attack the Sixers.

I am glad that Rondo is on our team. There maybe only one or two other PG's I'd rather have over Rondo (as a building block), but for this team, with this current core of players, there really isn't anyone that much better than Rondo.

The greatness that is Rondo is even when he plays poorly he still produces big time and the expectations of a player like this, it really is through the roof.

Rondo expended a ton of energy on defense last night, hit some of the most clutch shots in the whole game in the fourth, made that extremely intelligent foul with three seconds left in the game, he also made the play at the end of the game to run the clock out and had some huge rebounds and key passes in the fourth.

I think he tried to get his team mates involved just a little too much and made some poor decisions but once he worked that out he was magnificent.

He played a great 4th quarter and a few minutes at the end of the 3rd, but other than that he was Derek Fisher for nearly 3 quarters.

Those clutch jumpers he hit at the end are the same type of jumpers that if he had missed....he would have been crucified for. And Doc would have been killed for.

"4th quarter Rajon Rondo jump shots?" "That's your offense?"

We can't hang on our hat on Rondo making jumpers, clutch buzzer beaters at the end of quarters or end of shot clocks...he has to help us dominate the whole game so we can rest KG et. al in the 4th quarters....

He led the team in 1) minutes 2) REBOUNDS 3) assists and 4) steals.  He was 2 assists short of tying the entire 76ers team. 


Perhaps we are getting to the point where we are expecting too much from one player when we start getting critical of a player even when they are putting up a triple double, especially when they are a point guard leading the team in rebounds.

I would trade all of those, kgiessler, if he would just pick up the pace. He picks up the pace, the whole team plays a lot better. He can play slow all he wants, have good looking numbers at the game, but the team would be the worst for it. So I rather he have crappy stats, but keep the pace up for our team, than what he's been doing through these playoffs. He really puts us in bad spots.

That said, our team was missing a lot of open shots. Once Rondo speeds the game up, and this is pretty much always true, our team's shots start falling, we get easier baskets. When he starts walking the ball up, every point we get is a struggle. It's why we have often played poorly in the 4th quarter, unless we're playing from behind.

I think this is the 2nd triple double in a row where we heard this is the worst triple double ever seen.

We are getting a bit too high on the expectations I think. Dude has numerous contributions and helps us win games and we just slap him around.

3-4 months ago, I thought he was sloppy and nonchalant. I almost wanted him to be traded. But I'm glad we didnt.

I'll take what we're getting from him now.

Trying really hard to help us win games. I'll take that with some mistakes. Even Dooling makes mistakes but he's trying really hard to help us win games. I'll take it.

What is wrong with you people?  Seriously?  Just stop please.  I'm sure there are plenty of Jeff Teague and Evan Turner fan club where you can enjoy less production and more losses.  Do you people even realize Rondo is hands down the best player in the playoffs so far?

you guys do realise how rare playoff triple doubles are right?? 3 more and Rondo is tied for #2 in NBA history for playoff Triple doubles(magic is #1 with 30, jason kidd #2 with 11)

You know you are a superstar when you have a game like that and some people are disappointed in the effort.

Personally, I thought Rondo had a solid game.  It wasn't otherworldly, but it was solid.  7 turnovers is too many, and he still is having problems driving the lane.  Too often he either misses the layup, or makes a pass when he shouldn't.

The problem with Rondo is, his game is so vastly different from what most fans have become accustomed to watching, it's hard to tell what he's doing sometimes.  He also plays on an edge.  The line between brilliance and ineptness for him is very thin.

Also, because he's spoiled us with so many games of these otherworldly stats, it's harder to appreciate a mere "good performance".  When your PG has 10+ rebounds and 15+ assists (along with a ho-hum 11 points), that is a good game.  As Rondo himself said, "I was just trying to do the intangibles".  That should be praised, not condemned.

Rondo took it to another level in the 4th quarter.  That is what great players do.
