when you look at the Mavs impressive run to the finals last year, while defense was very important, no team really had an answer for Dirk.

its only 6 games into the playoffs, but I dont think any team has an answer for kevin garnett with the way he has been playing.

20.1PPG, 10.6RPG, 2.0BPG shooting 52.3%

and the best thing is the WAY he is scoring...hes taking guys down into the post and doing his work. its not all jumpshots which I thought KG had become to in love with the past couple years....he is probably playing his best since the championship year IMO

yeh but who is our Tyson Chandler, JJ Barea etc...

I say main reason why Dallas won last year was Tyson Chandler's presence on defense and his ability to catch the ball and finish

we don't haev that backing up KG. Bass isn't at Tyson's level on defense. Stiesma could be but can't really finish. Hollins maybe? but its already the 2nd round so I don't expect him to suddenly turn into a great role player

KG's numbers are slightly better now than than they were in '08, but KG's importance is THAT much more greater this playoff run.

He really is amazing.

KG is our Dirk and Chandler wrapped up in one.  But how long can he keep it up?

i disagree with this viewpoint adamantly... Dirk was the most important player on Dallas. He had an amazing year last season and an even better playoff run. Tyson Chandler and JJ Barea were role players who fit in well. they were first round fodder if they even make the playoffs last season without dirk. I just find it trivial fans dont realize it was actually dirk who brought out the best in tyson chandler, not vice versa.
That being said  KG is KG and Dirk is Dirk and they both dominate games completely differently

I'd say Stiemsma could absolutely be our Tyson Chandler presence on defense. Not on offense of course, but on the defensive end? I think he can. Problem is he is playing with absolutely 0 confidence right now. Probably has a lot to do with Doc just ditching him in the Atlanta series.

I wish he would be playing like he was before we started resting him in the regular season. Looks like us resting him may have done more harm than good.

Yeah, I have been thinking the same. Confidence is in the toilet and I think Doc's benching of Stiemsma is main reason why.

Ray is our JJ off the bench. And Hollins/Stiemsma is our Tyson Chandler... lol  ;D

Can you blame him though? If Doc benched you in favor of one of the worst players in the NBA, would you have any confidence?

I agree that Stiemsma is better than Hollins, but the only reason that Hollins got the nod over Stiemsma is that he produced when Stiemsma didnt. Dont hate on Hollins he played a fairly good series for us.

KG is definitely our Dirk and Tyson chandler. That's a very accurate way to look at it.

20.1PPG, 10.6RPG, 2.0BPG shooting 52.3%

These averages are KG's best in his entire time with the C's.  It's unbelievable what he is doing right now.  Moving him to center has turned back the clock.  No other center in the East can handle him.

KG in the post is a beautiful thing!
