I don't think KG will retire if the Celts come close to a championship but fall short.  I think he would retire if the Celts won

I can't imagine the C's winning it all with Pierce hurting as badly as he is.

Thabeet - Paddy O'Blount's brother by another mother - a better center than Kevin Garnett?

I am absolutely speechless.

I believe somebody went overboard to make a point ;)

KG is our best option at C.  If you could get a defensive 4 who boards I think he would be even better.

  • You say when......
Ya, KG is better than any of them...but, you have to remember that you cannot, and sgould not play kg every, and AL game...as a certain coach is prone to doing.....he needs short minutes, and more time off if you want him when you need him....how do i know that...i have been 36 before. And at my leve, i have payed in 2 eagues at the same time..it is relative.

There is no center better than KG in this league. I said it.

Yes, he's not the banging type player that some other Centers are, but KG is sure as hell not soft. We all know that. However, how many other centers in this league have his kind of all around skill set? The Celtics would be stupid not to resign KG if KG intends to continue playing basketball.

KG will retire this year if we win the title, as will Pierce.

KG: 17 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 3.2 APG, .9 BPG, 1.1 SPG, .503 FG%, .863 FT%.
(post All-Star break when KG became full time center)

Playoffs: 20 PPG, 10.7 RPG, 1.8 APG, 2 BPG, 1.1 SPG, .506 FG%, .880 FT%.

I say The Celtics resign KG as Boston's center and draft a kid to maybe learn underneath him.

TP for the line "Hamed Haddadi (we like to party)."  I'm surprised there are no votes for the Iranian Sensation.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I don't think Pierce would retire this year. He's banged up right now, but he still has a lot of basketball in him.

As for KG, he "could" see him retiring at the end of the season except for one thing...

Pierce: "KG, I need you to play one more season with me, maybe two".

KG: "Nah, I'm done".

Pierce: "KG, we've been down the road together for 5 years. I "need" you at my back.

KG: "Ok, I'm in".

KG's too loyal in the best sense of the word. If his teammate that has battled with him for 5 years asked him to play another year or two, KG won't turn him down.

Bank on that and bank on Boston at a discount - there is absolutely "ZERO" chance KG goes elsewhere in free agency.

Zero...

None are better than KG, but some may be better than Brandon Bass.  We need two bigs, and KG can play both positions.

I would look into a S&T with Bass and draft picks and try and upgrade our PF position.  Bring the rest of the gang back with Wicox and Green and I think we are right back into contention next year.

TP to OP because KG has made this a legitimate question with his play of late. Even though he passed on some jumpers he should have taken in the 4th to get guys lesser shots, he still put up a great line.

If we really aren't going to compete next season, he is not the best option since we should invest in the future by getting a legitimate young big. If he is fine just playing for a playoff berth and signs a one year deal for reasonable money, why not?

Much tougher defenders too in this round and likely in next with Iggy and Lebron. Those two can really make a hobbled Pierce struggle.

KG will def give a hometown discount to stay. He could easily fetch 12-15 million/year for 2 years somewhere in the league.

Celtics prob give him a 3 year 30 million deal , to finish he career here. The way he is, i bet he will never lose his starting job. Like others mentioned, he rather retire than sit on the bench

Fixed that for you. I am half Iranian but I really do like Haddadi. He seems to always give good solid short minutes for Memphis.

I agree with this. KG is great at center. Frankly, I think nearly every BB fanatic in the world knew he was, HE just didn't know and maybe he didn't want to know. He is really an honest guy in his own way in interviews. Who else says they hate playing the position the coach wants them to play but they will do it? It was frustrating to watch him not play to his obvious potential recently, but now we are seeing the real him and he is darn near superhuman.

If we could do whatever we have to to get a big physical 2 to play next to him and help him on the boards and d, that is the best real world option. I don't have a name, but a very solid big strong pf who can score from the post would be perfect.

KG is going to get an offer north of $15M from another team.
