Its becoming monotonous these days, LeBron winning MVP.

Durrant had a better regular season record, was the scoring champ, he also had more rebounds and steals and I genuinely think that Durrant will go further in the playoffs.

Who's in charge here?

Lebron is a much more complete offensive player and on the defensive end there is no comparison.  Lebron is the best player in the NBA so I have no problem with him winning the MVP.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

I agree. This one belonged to Durant. But no player was snubbed more than Shaq for MVP. The fact he only has one is a joke.

Voters got this one right.  Lebron was, hands down, the best player in the NBA this year.

I hate Lebron, but if anything, he was the one snubbed last year, he was much better than Rose. He is well deserving this year as well, much more complete player than Durant.

Oh come on now, OKC had 1 more win, and Durant only averaged 0.1 more rebounds, and 0.9 more points (and fewers steals by the way, but more blocks, maybe you got those mixed up?).  So those gaps are big enough to show Durant clearly deserved the award  ::)

In fact, per 36 numbers, the only stat Durant beats LeBron in is points by 0.2 and blocks by 0.3 (as well as ft% and 3p%).

You're right, who votes for this thing, Durant clearly deserves the award.  Actually why do we even have voters in the first place, let's just plug in all the stats into a formula.  Then justice will be served.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Lebron deserves this one. Good for him.

And he'll need EVERY BIT of his MVP-dom to beat BOS if we can get by PHI first.

It could have gone either way. No problem with either one of them winning it this year.

I thought Rose winning last year was a farce. Should have gone to Dwight Howard or Dirk Nowitzki.

I think this year, Chris Paul deserves MVP more. You take KD or LBJ out, and they could possibly still make playoffs. You take CP3 out, the Clippers won't even make playoffs or fight for 8th seed. His presence just makes the Clippers so much better (I hate him though but I gotta give him credit)

There's definitely a comparison defensively.  In fact, statistically Durant was a better defender this year:

* Durant held opponents overall to fewer points per possession
* Durant held opponents to a lower FG%
* Durant held opponents to a lower 3PT%
* Durant was better on isolation plays, post-ups, and spot-ups

So, Durant's defense was, at minimum, every bit as good as Lebron's, and based upon evidence, was actually better.

I totally agree to that. When Chris Paul is off the floor in these playoffs, the Clippers play like a chicken with its head cut off

He deserved the MVP. But I think the team win-loss record kind of took him out of the running

It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Great post, coach.

But this isn't the MVP award.  It's the MVM award.  It might just as well be named after the messiah.

You could definitely make a case that the messiah didn't have Ibaka and Perk behind him.  But Durant doesn't get away with the hacking that the messiah does.  The messiah pretty much has the freedom to do what he wants because he knows he will never be fouled out.  Without it, there would be even more of a disparity between the messiah and Durant defensively.

A lot of the perception of the messiah's great defense is based on 1-2 steals he gets in a game and the subsequent spectacular breakaway dunk.  But he isn't shutting too many people down.

So was Ray Allen's if you're just going by mysynergy numbers, his numbers grade out better than both LeBron/Durant based on the quick look I just took. (except not surprisingly on post ups, Ray Allen didn't outclass them there)

LeBron is a much better help defender and I also wonder how much Miami's trapping scheme effects such things. Its a very different defense approach than the Thunder or Cs take.

I think it had to be LBJ/Durant unlike many past MVPs this one isn't a bad choice.

(Rose, Kobe were the last two I really disagreed with)
