If Rose can get healthy by playoff time, if Noah is healthy, if Deng is healthy, and as long as Boozer doesn't get...worse, I think they're contenders. They're vulnerable, for sure, but still contenders. Rose when he's on is so good, because of his MVP award backlash, I think he's now underrated. On his own, to turn a game, there isn't a more dangerous PG in basketball. Even better than CP3 at putting a team on his back and just willing a win, and CP3 is just...amazing.

But with Rose's injury and basketball's politics, yeah they could fall out of contention. Or thy could be what Memphis was supposed to be this year.

I don't think they have to make any major moves. That's a pretty good team as is. They might do what Danny did during the trade deadline. Sign anyone that can make the team better. Get value. Otherwise, just sit on it and play them again next season.

In talking about the Bulls Wilbon said they needed more offensive spark for next season.

Jackie's reply to him was a bit surprising as she said "Ray Allen coming your way baby" which of course Wilbon liked to hear.

Jackie Mac is a very well respected writer with more inside access to the Celtics than most anyone on the planet that is not directly affiliated to the organization.

Not saying this will happen but it was interesting to hear the comment.  If Ray doesn't retire and isn't brought back to Boston then Chicago could be a possible destination to finish his storied career.

If ray was going to leave i couldnt see any where more suited to having him. Korver filled in well at the end of the year, but having a 2g of rip and ray would be pretty good, specially with the amount of Offensive boards they get, can mean extra shots for ray

  The only deals I might see them doing is, if they think that Rose will have little impact this year, trading players that they might not want around the year after. Rose and Noah are young and I think they intend on keeping that core around for a while.

Most of these contenders such as Chicago and Miami can only offer the mle or the mini mle.  Even if we offer Ray a 1 year 6 million deal most of these contenders can't beat that.

Really weird.  Keep hearing that Ray is a goner.  Supposedly we traded him around the deadline and the deal fell apart last second.  Maybe he's not too happy about it behind the scenes.  That's what they keep alluding to, at least.  They also keep alluding to him not being happy coming off the bench.  Lots of whispers.  Also they keep making it sound like the Celtics are expecting to move on without him, but I'm not really sure where that is coming from.  How can they have any idea what the offseason plan is at this point?  What if we sneak into the finals or something?  Why is everyone so darn certain it's the end?  We only have something like 25 mil in cap space IF we let Bass, Jeff Green, Ray and KG walk.  That doesn't go very far.  WE're probably best off just resigning everyone until Pierce falls off the books.

In Chicago Ray would have a chance to start on a title contender.  He must also think he'd like playing for Thibs.  No more bruises to his fragile ego as in Boston.
