Smith wants out of Atlanta.  Bynum is wearing out his welcome in L.A.  Both guys have one year left.  Seems like a trade that makes sense for both teams as Horford slides over to the 4 next to Bynum (who becomes the star and man on the team away from Kobe) and they can just bring Hinrich back to play the point with Johnson and Williams on the wing.  Lakers move Gasol to C to pair next to Smith and get a solid young PG that have wanted for years.  Trade seemingly makes both teams better next year.  Not sure if either team does it with an extension to the big guys, but seems like a good trade for both teams.

Doubt Atlanta would do that trade.

Bynum is destroying his value this post season.

Maybe Bynum for Smith and Joe Johnson.

If I was Atlanta the only people I would keep would be Teague and Horford.

While Joe Johnson is a good player. I don't think any team will want his contract.

The Hawks would be all over that.  The Lakers would never do it.

Nowhere near enough value for Andrew Bynum.

Josh Smith is a top 40 player. LA only moves Bynum if they are getting back a top 10 talent (heck, maybe even only top five talent). His size and age makes Bynum incredibly valuable. Far more so than a J.Smith + solid starting PG (Teague) trade package.

Atlanta?  That'd be an unbelievable steal and a near perfect compliment to Horford.  It's LA that'd be laughing at the proposal (if they did it they'd probably hold the record for most inefficient contested 22 foot jump shots).
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Sure Bynum is a better player, but only when he wants to be.  He has real effort issues and is injured a lot (which may be because he doesn't put in the work).  Yeah Smith and Teague aren't the same value, but they aren't 50% either.  They are in the 85-90% range, which for a malcontent who only tries half the time, isn't bad.  And it isn't like Smith and Teague are old and on their last legs, they are both just starting their primes (or in the case of Teague not even there yet).

Nailed it.

Hawks would do it in a heartbeat.  Unfortunately, LA would not.

Hypothetical, but plausible, scenario.  Bynum plays poorly in a Game 7 loss against Denver, culminating in him repeating the sort of behavior that got him tossed last year with another poor loser flagrant foul.  After the game, Kobe Bryant calls him out in the locker room and there is yelling and possibly shoving.  The Lakers resolve internally to move him no matter what, even if they don't get full value back.

Would the Lakers be able to get more value than a package like Smith, Teague, and a first?

To most GMs, it'd be impossible for somebody with Bynum's size and talent to destroy his value.

I think he has hurt it a great deal.  He still acts like a rookie and he is on a team with one of the all time great leaders in basketball history.  He seemed to be more in check with Phil at the helm than with Brown, but he is also now arguably the Lakers best player and he wasn't in years past.  If he flames out again and has more maturity issues against Denver tonight, he won't destroy his value, but he certainly could hurt it.  And let's remember, Bynum and 2 firsts wasn't enough for Orlando to move Dwight (even with that terrible situation that existed in Orlando), so it isn't like we are talking about a guy with unlimited value.

I'm pretty sure, that Lakers would rather fire Mike Brown than give up on Bynum (unless he can be traded for Howard).

If Bynum keeps acting up then I wouldnt be surprised to see him shipped out. Especially if Kobe gets sick of him.
