I'm sure Danny could come up with a deal involving our picks this year.
Atlanta wouldn't be interested in such a paultry haul for Josh Smith.

I go back and forth on Smith's trade value, but how much do you think he can fetch by himself?

We've seen comparable players like Gerald Wallace, Shawn Marion and Lamar Odom go for wildly varying values.

2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Hawks fan dislike Josh Smith despite the fact he's from Atlanta he's expressed wantin to get traded before i think we would have to give up Bradley nd other pieces for Josh nd iont want dat at all but if we could pick him up without givin up too much i wouldnt mind him here it'll be a nice fit

Sometimes we fans have a tendency to focus too much on a player's negatives, but let's face it: every player has negatives, including our current crop, and as someone else on here said, Smith has a lot of positives this team needs: youth, athleticism, and rebounding prowess, plus he's a good defender, which fits with our culture. I think a combination of Doc, KG, Pierce and Rondo would help Smith become a more disciplined player, particularly in regards to jump shooting.

And it's not like our current squad doesn't fall in love with the jumper to its own detriment sometimes.

People here don't seem to appreciate how good Josh Smith is.  How many people can average the numbers he did this series playing against KG? on one knee?  He is a SUPERSTAR.  His numbers this year 19 points 10 rebounds 4 assists 1.5 steals 1.8 blocks per 36 minutes.  So what he takes bad shots, he's never had the right veterans to teach him.  I would not be surprised to see Danny build a package of 2 first round picks, the second round pick  and Bass if that's not enough Moore or Johnson to get Josh Smith.  A Rondo, Bradley, Green, Smith would be a spectacular core to build around.

That would be a fantastic group going forward. Add in Pierce and a re-signed KG, a couple other wily vets such as Pietrus, plus a couple of decent young bigs to groom such as Stiemsma and Hollins or Williams, and the future's looking bright.

I've said it for a long time, I want Josh Smith in green. He asked to be traded here last summer and he definitely still wants to be in Green in his next contract.

Yes he has some room for improvement, but so do many other players. Under the guidance of Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett (once you bring him back on a short term deal), he could finally completely live up to his potential. He is explosive and athletic we know this. His defense would improve under Doc and he would know when he should be taking jump shots and when he should be attacking the rim.

Think of Rondo pushing a fast break with Josh Smith, Jeff Green, and Avery Bradley. ALL THOSE GUYS CAN FLY AND ARE ATHLETIC.

this would be a great core, and still leave room for other pieces...

I wonder if a 3-team deal with Utah and Atlanta could bring Smith to Boston.

Something like Bradley and a TE to Utah, Big Al to Atlanta and Smith to Boston.  Gets Utah a good guard prospect and some more cap space to fill out their wing situation, and gets Atlanta a post scorer.

I think some people around here would just prefer to send Al to Boston in that case. Either way, the ideal situation is to get Smith without giving up Bradley. I prefer to have my cake and eat it too :)

I think Josh Smith will make it known that he isn't signing an extension and refuse to sign an extension with any team he's traded to. This will push his trade value down to the a first round pick type level. I am more than willing to give up a first for him provided kg is back.

Even if Smith wanted to sign with Boston after his contract is up I think it would be worth it to trade for him in order for him to work with KG for a year.

Rondo Harden Smith  ;D

Really though, I would give up anything but Rondo and Bradley for JSmoove. We need a center though.

With the Celtics cap room and the Hawks lack of upcoming cap room... I think the C's could turn a deal involving picks and maybe a young guy like Jajuan Johnson. I like what i've seen out of Jajuan but Josh's potential is much higher, not to mention he's ONLY 3 years older than our rookie PF with 8 years of experience.

So what he takes bad shots, he's never had the right veterans to teach him.

He had one season where he took almost no threes, then he reverted back to business as usual.  He wants to leave Atlanta because he's tired of the coaches riding him so hard about his shot selection.

I don't think you should seek to acquire Josh Smith unless you thought that his other abilities provide sufficient value that you would be willing to live with no improvement on his shot selection.  He certainly should not be given a contract that assumes his shot selection gets better.

The Celtics would have to renounce, KG, Allen and all other free agents including Bass to bring Josh Smith in. If that's the method than no thanks. I really don't see any other scenario where he comes here. Bass and Allen sign and trade, perhaps? That would have to be considered. Especially with the emergence of Bradly.
