Cheeky.
People tend to overlook the fact that that Daniels foul was clearly before the inbounds pass and the hawks should've had both free throws and an extra possession.
We were incredibly lucky on that count that the call went our way.

Al Horford is a beast and a warrior, I'd take him on the Celtics   for $15M

This is such a big point. Has it been touched on? I was screaming about it in my living room.

I watched over it a few times on the dvr.  That it was even called a foul is more intriguing.  It wasn't much different then the kind of blocking/holding that occurs on every inbound.  To call something that is very commonplace on such a key possession was surprising.  Perhaps the camera view missed something, but I was very surprised by that whistle.

Maybe in (immediate) retrospect they surprised themselves with it as well, and did their best to minimize its effect.

I'd have to agree that the ref called the foul before the ball was inbounded, and the Celtics got helped out BIG time by that.

Also, Pierce double-dribbled but it went unnoticed/uncalled. Atleast it looked like he did...it was at the end of the game, off a missed shot by the Hawks I believe, Rondo went racing up the court then passed the ball to Pierce after he got past half court. Pierce dribbled once, looked like he put both hands on the ball, then started dribbling again.

The Celtics definitely squeaked it out last night..

They'd have gotten two free throws just like they got on the second play, but they wouldn't have gotten the ball back after like it was a flagrant.

Quote
two free throw attempts if a personal foul is committed by a defender prior to the
ball being released on a throw-in.

They let a lot go on the catch in those situations. Watch NBA players on the catch, they travel all the TIME when they catch the ball initially.

What drove me nuts was when we had Johnson trapped and he faked like the ball was deflected out of his hands and then just started dribbling again after he just dropped it on his own.

Back in the 50s and 60s if you touched the ball and it hit the ground, then you picked it up and dribbled , it was considered a double dribble....now it seems to be a discretionary call based on posession
