Seriously guys? I expect this negativity from my friends who aren't fans and know little about Pierce, but to see this on this beloved blog is terrible.

We're talking about Paul Pierce here. A guy who refuses to let down, give up, or rest when it's likely in his best interest. This guy will play through anything within reason this post-season, and a sprain isn't going to slow this guy down. He's now used to it, probably will get a cortozone shot/pain meds, and will be playing on insane adrenaline tonight in front of the HOME CROWD!

sprain -verb
to overstrain or wrench (the ligaments of an ankle, wrist, or other joint) so as to injure without fracture or dislocation.

I think Doc should have Pierce come off the bench tonight and have Pietrus start. If the Cs begin blowing the Hawks out early enough, maybe he won't even have to play and can just rest.
Or maybe he has to play major minutes in game 7 before a summer vacation.

I see no reason to not start him since he will be warmed up already at tipoff. It seems to me that sitting still is often detrimental to injuries.

Actually it is as bad as it sounds.

Pierce healthy = Superstar

Pierce with a sprained MCL = lucky to get 12 points out of him and hes terrible on defense.

Huge difference.

Well be lucky to make it out of the second round or even the first if he doesent fully heal soon.
While I don't think he will necessarily be that bad, your general point is important. He isn't a superstar if he loses mobility, and that hurts.

Here's the way I see it, fellow Celtics fans. Stop looking for excuses for the Celtics to lose this game. If Pierce is out there, I expect him to play his best to help the team win.

This is nothing on the level of Rondo's major injury that happened in game 3 of last season's playoff series against the Heat. We lost by one point. One bloody point. Pierce missed makeable shots. When a player has issues with his body, he makes the necessary adjustments to makeup for it.

The Celtics should come out and win this series tonight, and if not tonight, then they come out to try and do it in game 7. If the Celtics can't do this, then I afford them no excuses. They just weren't the better team. The Hawks have had to deal with far more adversity at the start of this series than we have. They have much more of a reason to feel defeated and roll over and die, but they have not. The Celtics need to come out tonight and prove they are the better team. Simple as that.

Thats to be expected, the only thing we can do now is pray that he heals over this next round, we need him at 100% for Miami.

Miami? He's going to have a handful just dealing with Iggy

You have to be worried about Pierce after seeing what he looked like today the Sixers run and are going to test that knee
