I guess my point is when people point out rebounding in a loss it doesn't really say anything to me because we lose the battle in just about everygame. So, again, unless we are getting absolutely abused on the glass I don't see the point of really complaining about it since just about all of our wins come when we lose the rebounding battle. We CRUSHED the Hawks in game 4 and didn't we lose that rebounding battle?

Rebounding is further down the list for me. Last night I would have loved for Rondo to realize he was playing in an NBA game in the first half, for KG to get twice as many shots as he did, and for Ray Allen to shoot his free throw average (he missed 2 last night)

The norms that are usually there, were not there last night.

- Pierce failing to make proper rotations due to a balky knee.
- Ray missing 2? FTs
- Our pick and roll defense was abysmal (Bass ain't that great, but he was worse than his normal mediocre self).

Bad rebounding is our norm and it was still there last night haha.

Because we are poor rebounders.

I guess its similar to Rondos free throw shooting.

Its bad
Don't expect it to get better
its not for lack of effort or practice
its not for lack of coaching

Better perspective is Dwight Howard. If magic fans are complaining after a loss because dwight shoots his ft % shouldn't they really just expect it and move on? Its a bonus when he shoots free throws well and it sucks when he goes 2-12.

Don't want to hear about rebounding ever again....specifically offensive rebounds.

Bulls crushed the Sixers on the boards...but lost anyway.

Bulls made the mistake of crashing the offensive glass and had very little defense covering the Iggy fastbreak.

I mean think about it. The Bull who was shooting the free throw, ended up defending (and fouling) Iggy. That just can't happen.

I am in full favor of sacrificing offense rebounds to set up our defense and protect against transition.

I agree, we do what we usually do well and win, we rebound good or bad (usually) and we win either way! Some people must really think they don't try to rebound. Come on now, these are professionals and Doc is no average coach, of course they try! They just aren't good as a group at it! I have seen Hollins try SOOO hard, and while he gets the occasional big rebound/tip or help others get it, he still stinks at it! I also think part of it is they are coached not to expel too much energy going after something they aren't likely to get anyway, that's why our defense is so great. Sure, Bulls can rebound and defend well but they aren't a bunch of ancients, old PF playing Center, a midget playing power forward, an old SF with a busted heel and sprung toes, AB who expels crazy non-stop tireless energy on D, an old busted ankle 2 guard, old knobby knees Dooling, and a first learning to walk baby knees Pie coming off the bench... they have young leaping active bodies that can afford to go non-stop for rebounds and still have energy on defense!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Philly's a good rebounding team, I expect us to lose the battle of the boards.

But we are going to win the series regardless of the rebounding...if we:

1.) defend the 3
2.) win the turnover battle
3.) limit their transition game

No they're not, they're a little below average.

They were tied for 17th in the league in rebounding overall with four other teams. Similar to Atlanta without Horford in there, so we might lose the board battle but it won't be by much.

Edit: Atlanta only out rebounded us by 1.33 per game, not all that bad.

Celtics are SOMETIMES a bad DEFENSIVE rebounding team, but for the most part they are average. The reason they finish so low in total rebounds is that they value transition defense over extra possessions. Doc Rivers feels that his half court defense is one of the best in the league and that he should force the opponent to match up against it on every possession, look at the number of transition points the Celtics allow... it's a great number.

This, by the way, is the reason why they beat Miami in the regular season and have a chance to do it in the Playoffs. Lebron and Wade can't get alley-oop buckets if you have everyone back and avoid stupid turnovers.
