Pietrus and Pierce were on the other side of the court where he could have went to, or even use Garnett for a screen to get an open shot. That annoys the hell out of me

He did use a Garnett screen. That is how Horford switched onto him. Set a second screen and he ends up with Smith on him, who is a better shot blocker.

The defense will run to wherever he goes at that point, but he needed to use his speed to get around guys if he is defended by bigs.

Meh. Rarely do I find fault in coaches over a lack of timeouts since you may never even get to need them at the end if you didn't use them earlier.

  I still don't understand the spacing on that play. Pietrus, Pierce and Bradley were all standing on the far side of the court, almost close enough to each other to hold hands. If Rondo heads towards the rim in the middle he has Horford or Smith funneling him towards Williams, who was waiting at the edge of the paint. Drawing the second defender wouldn't open up a pass to make because Smith or Horford would be on KG and the remaing two defenders would still be able to cover any of the three players on the far side.

Exactly.  That was what I was getting at.  Garnett seemed to be the only Celtic that knew what to do and that I mostly put on the coach.  The team was just totally disjointed and out of sync.

Very true, but surly if they saw Rondo coming up, they would have spreaded, if not, then it would have been on them.

Oh, and that final Heat play was horrible! LeBron shouldn't have been just watching

Rondo absolutely needed to give that ball to KG right when he passed half court. Rondo knows he is not going to be the one to hit a contested, off-balance buzzer beater.

He had two opportunities to get it to KG, right away and then with about 3 seconds left. KG has the height and the range to give us a chance with a shot at the end there, instead Rondo dribbled way too long and at best (that's with him somehow expecting not to get trapped) he would have gotten a corner fade away contested jumper up. Don't know how Rondo can really think he is in a position to take that shot.

Kg was barley over the half court line, you think he has much better chance of hitting a contested 30 Foot three than rondo has trying to drive deeper and get a shot/ passing lane? I think they were both pretty terrible options.

but thats what happens when you get caught on your own end line with 8 seconds left and no time out. you try to do what you can.

The over reaction here is, as always, ridiculous. It was a broken play, and it sucked, no doubt you have to get a shot off.

But it is what it is, a hard loss to a team that barley held on fighting for their playoff lives in front of their home fans (sweet confetti and streamers for a game 5 win by the way Atlanta  .)

Agreed. People on this blog need to learn how to roll with the punches more and accept the highs with the lows. When I read that it's "unacceptable" that Rondo/the C's didn't' get a shot off it baffles my mind as to what is acceptable. It's life, sometimes you can't miss and sometimes you can't get a shot off. Clearly a time out would have helped, but we didn't have one. Oh well, we'll win tonight and the Rondo dribble loss of game 5 will be something you don't even remember - let alone something that was ever considered "unacceptable".

Positive Spin for all you pessimists - Rondo stole the ball! He had the IQ to read the play and get in the passing lane before the ball was even thrown. He made that steal look like the pass was intended for him, got the ball up quickly, and well we all know the rest
