I'm watching Bass and thinking we would be a lock to make the ECF even if Rose was playing, I think, if we had David West instead of Bass.  Does anyone know why he chose Indiana instead of the Celtics?

That being said, I hope Bass gets it together and starts performing like he did in the regular season.

I think mainly because at the time he would have been backing up KG and still fighting against Bass for minutes.  To a lesser extent money as well.

Would have been nice having West starting PF and Bass in that bench role. That alone would make our team so deep

for all we know, he could be looking at the celts as they are right now and wondering if HE made the right decision. especially if we can make it to the ecf and the pacers get knocked out in the second round.

This isn't true, the plan when they were wooing West was for KG to move to Center at the start of the season and start West at PF. Bass would have been the first big man off the bench, just like he was at the start of the season that actually happened.

Brandon bass will be fine...nice of you to jump off the bandwagon (or maybe you were never on it because youre a big baby guy) of the guy who helped us and was great all year and things changed when he entered the starting lineup and put KG at the 5
who cares about david west...he chose indiana because he liked the younger talent, didnt have great relationships with members of the celtics, and money

He wouldnt have been fighting Bass for minutes...Indiana told him Hansborough would still get all his playing time and he still went there...so no

Oh I had no idea there was any discussion of KG moving to Center to start the season. So the difference was what 1 million? Or that Indiana had a "brighter future "? I thought that was a load of crap reason

I was under the impression he believed the Celtics window had closed and wrote us off. Plus the money obviously. But nothing would be sweeter then watching this guy sent home early. As fans we cant forget how he and Chris Paul insulted this organization last off season.

I'll take this quote, and the title of the thread...

How good would the Celtics be if they landed David West?

And combine it and ask this....

How good are the Celtics ANYWAY???

Money.. Guys that greedy deserve to rot on teams like that.
When you lose, the easy part is to see who gives up. Giving up is very simple. You basically take your stuff and walk away. To continue to work and to continue to compete is one of the most difficult things, especially when you really don't have anything - KG

I think if we had David West right now, we'd be co-favorites for the title.  With Bass and Ray off the bench, we'd be phenomenal.

I think he picked Indiana because the annual money was a little better; because he wanted a two-year (rather than three-year) contract; because his role was better defined; because he was tired of waiting on the S&T with New Orleans to work out; and because Boston had an uncertain future at the time and he didn't want to get stuck on a rebuilding team.

1.  He turned down more money from us (3 years, $28 million vs. 2 years, $20 million) to sign with the Pacers (although he's earning slightly more annually); and

2.  The Pacers finished with a better record than the Celts.
