Thinking ahead, with Chicago ailing and Miami rolling, who do Stern and Co want to see Miami play in the ECF?

Us.  Biggest market, highest intensity, best storylines (now that the Bulls are a shadow of their former selves).

Of course, lots of "Stern's dream matchups" keep not happening for some crazy reason.

The Sixers, path of least resistance. He just wants the Heat to get to the finals, and the easier the better.

This is orgasmic to Stern.

There is nothing he has to do to ensure that the messiah and CO get to the ECF.

He's so confident that he allowed the officials to officiate the messiah somewhat by the rules in game 3.

I do not care what Stern try to do. Cs is the only team in the East that can stop Miami

Of course it's Boston. Were hated on Detroits "Bad Boys" levels outside of this one market. Lets be realistic here. The rest of this country hates seeing us do well in any professional sport because were usually competitive up and down the board. The rest of the country will tune in just to root against us.

Stern and ECF? What about Stern and the Finals?

LA vs BOS would be a cash cow and likely the last of the hurrah of a real rivalry with the current players

IMO it wouldn't be the same without Phil Jackson.

Man I would hate for the Lakers to make it to the Finals vs us, too many bigs. It would still be a close series but we would get destroyed on the boards and inside.

as much as I would love to see a C's vs Lakers finals (because a championship tastes so much sweeter at the expense of LA), I agree that their frontcourt would be a real issue for us.  if we still had JO and Wilcox to go with Steimsma, KG and Bass, I think we'd have a chance but Hollins and Williams are just not going to be of much use against Pau and Bynum.

In Seattle the Celtics are popular because of Ray Allen. Besides, there are a lot of former New Englanders out here.

In Kansas, they rooted for the Celtics because of Paul Pierce.

Celtics nation is a lot bigger than you think it is.

It's really just our rival East Coast teams that hate us, because we've been consistently whooping on most of them for several years. West Coast teams (except LA) are either completely ambivalent to us or like us (minus a few anti-KG holdovers from the T-wolf days).
