will someone please explain to me what the Celtics half-court offense is supposed to be ?

are we reduced to tossing and dribbling it around the perimeter for half the shot clock and then watching the last guy who ends up with the ball go one-on-one for a contested 15' jump shot ??

do we not have any patterns we can run, maybe a couple of plays ? i watch San Antonio in constant motion with ball movement - can't Doc steal a couple of their set patterns so we have at least a chance of the ball going inside or maybe even getting an open jumper ??

one thing is evident last few years, Celtics play better on the road than at home. Sleepyheads!

Only positive thing is that the Celtics played horribly on offense and are still up by 2 at halftime.  Also to see Ray looking so fresh and making baskets.

However it is inexcusable to see Boston playing so poorly and with such little energy.  The Celtics should be destroying this team and getting rest for Game 4.

Rondo had one of his most invisible halves of the season and it makes no sense.  A Hawk team with ZERO inside presence is the perfect time for him to drive aggressively to the basket.  Not sure what he is doing out there.

Best break for the Celtics is another Hawk injury.  McGrady was the best player on the floor in the 2nd quarter so if he is out then the Hawks don't have many other options.

Hopefully Doc will rip into the team at halftime and they come out alive in the 3rd period and put the Hawks away...

Basicaly agree. I like the defensive energy and I thought Ray looked much better than I expected.

We're passive, tho - on the defensive glass and at the point. We're not attacking with the basketball, the ball's not moving enough and we're not active enough on the defensive glass.

Good to be up after a real meh half.

What was our biggest concern before this game?

Would the Celtics put fourth no effort and play to the level of the competition.

Thats exactly what happened in the first half, fortunately we have the lead somehow.

Rondo is useless.

What is Rondo supposed to do? No one is getting open. Everyone is slow.

You do realize why no one is getting open right? Because they can play so far off Rondo on offense.

How is this any different from the past three years when Rondo has dominated?

Is this just more of the baby boomer generational Rondo hate?

I use the metric system and Al Gore math so I'm 39.72589 adjusted for the rate of inflation, which will rise exponentially as the Earth warms as long as you take into account the rise of the yuan which is 68% likely to continue for the next 20 years, at which point you should vote for me

"Our spacing is horrendous. Clearly, without Ray, they’re using both guards to just sit in the paint. And we have to do a better job of creating space. It’s tough when you have two guards they’re just not guarding. And that makes the difference for Kevin.’’

Credit to Hawks defense and Hinrich. Haven't seen a team defend Rondo this well since the Lakers series in 2010.

if we had played like this with Josh Smith and Pachulia healthy, we would be down 20 right now. Terrible half by boston. How can we not rebound and score inside with no half-decent big men in the game for the hawks? How is that possible?

You know that one kid in class back in high school that would never do his homework until class started, then turn it in half finished?

Thats the Celtics.

Rondo is so passive, Atlanta is playing without their front court and he attacked the basket once.
I am not saying he is the only one playing bad but he should be way more aggressive.

One of the biggest flaws with Rondo's game is that his play is inconsistent from one game to the next.
