Couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw how Doc stuck with Pietrus for most of the game.  Pietrus was horrible.

Took a while for Doc to realize how ineffective Bass was playing.  Doc finally made the best substitution of the night.  He put in MDaniels.

PPierce and Avery get the accolades, Dooling gets some recognition coming off the bench for his timely 3pointers, but the move of the night goes to Doc for keeping Bass on the bench and sticking with Marquis down the stretch.

-On a funny note; Pierce almost went for a Triple-Double including 8 TurnOvers!!!   ;D

Doc is a defensive guy.  That's the reason why the JaJuan and E'twaun hardly ever saw the floor this year.

Pietrus was playing excellent D the entire night, he just couldn't find his shot.

Pietrus usually shoots good in front of the home crowd , thats a HUGE advantage for the C's.  Bradley and Steamer play better with home cooking.

The Hawks are liable to get a thrashing.

That was so unlike Doc. It took me by surprise seeing Doc utilizing end of the bench guys. He is usually rigid with his rotation specially in the playoffs.

The thing is he had KG/Pierce in most of the game, I think that made him comfortable matching up more with Atlanta at the other three spots.

Yeah, a bunch of those came in one quick stretch where he was pretty sloppy. You could see how gassed Pierce was in the fourth, fortunately KG was able to post 4 or 5 times in a row to give him a rest (while still scoring on those plays)

Let's not forget that Josh Smith got hurt in the second half and that Hollins fouled out rather early in that second half as well, causing Larry Drew to go to an extremely small lineup through most of the third and all of the fourth.

Most of the third and fourth quarters the Hawks went with Ivan Johnson at center and Marvins Williams at PF. Doc knows Williams can't guard Pierce so he moved Pierce to PF, and in order to battle the taller wings the Hawks have(Johnson, Hinrich, McGrady) Doc countered with Q and Pietrus. Remember Pietrus was rested from not having played almost the entire first half because the refs rang him up for 3 fouls in the first 4 minutes.

So Bass sat and Stiemsma sat and given the results, it seems to have been the right move. Simply put, Doc believes his small ball lineup is way better than their small ball lineup and I would have to agree with him.

Doc is so stubborn.  I can't believe he consistently and adamantly refuses to follow the rotation advice of the Celtics geeks on the blogosphere.

DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

And he should have fouled out earlier.

He full on was punching KG in the back with his elbow every dribble in the post, I was shocked that the refs didn't call him for that when he did it two straight possessions. I wish Perkins could get away with that when he was here! (well he did some games I'm sure)

That was so unlike Doc. It took me by surprise seeing Doc utilizing end of the bench guys. He is usually rigid with his rotation specially in the playoffs.

Doc has been flailing with his lineups all year because even he has had to realize that what he wants to do isn't working.  For example, Doc really wanted to use Marquis as his main wing off the bench but 'Quis was so offensively awful that he couldn't stick with that.  Or how Doc was basically forced to use Bradley at the 2, when he clearly wanted to play him almost exclusively as Rondo's back up.  Or how KG's move to center was only due to JO being out for the year.

Doc has spent a lot of this season just throwing guys out there and hoping it would work.  The problem is that even when Doc finds something that works, like Moore playing back up point, he goes away from it as soon as he can and back to what he wants to do, like playing Dooling instead of Moore.

The rotation got screwed up from the get-go because of Rondo's suspension and the 3 early fouls on Pietrus (the 3rd one was one of the more atrocious calls of the night).

Thought he stuck with AB at the point a bit too long in the 1st, Teague was abusing him, I thought maybe Dooling would be a little more active with his hands and distract him.

Quite true Faf. If Pietrus could get rung up for those three fouls in the first 4 minutes(1 of which looked to have been offensive and Pietrus had position and the other just a completely ridiculous foul on a screen under the basket) then Collins(thanks for the spell check)should have been gone much earlier.

Besides the punching in KG's back there were at least two other occasions where Bradley or Pierce was fouled by him underneath when they took the ball inside and it didn't get called. He should have had 5 fouls by half time, easy.

Yeah tommy was right...Pietrus had something wrong with him last night... He fell down more than he took shot attempts.... Seriously, did anyone notice on defense at least 4 or 5 times, Petey just like, fell down either being guarded or trying to get around a pick? It was getting quite hilarious to me.

Exactly!  I mean, is not like Pietrus is an irreplaceable allstar.  IMHO, if he is not giving you much, replace him with Sasha.  They are very interchangeable.
