Ivan Johnson says KG is a dirty player

Add another name to the ever-expanding list of  Kevin Garnett critics. Hawks rookie forward Ivan Johnson became the latest to join the chorus this afternoon after Hawks practice.

“Garnett, he’s a dirty player,” Johnson said. “He gives me a lot of elbows, and I can handle that.”

Johnson said he expected that Garnett and the Celtics would attempt to do things to incite a reaction.

“I was prepared for that,” Johnson said. “I already knew how KG was going to come at me. They’re a whole bunch of mess-talkers.”

Johnson said he didn’t let the tactics get under his skin in Atlanta’s 83-74 win in Game 1 last night.

“I know we’re not going to fight on the court,” Johnson said. “I can handle it. I can take some hits. I try not to (give hits) because I’m usually the one that gets caught.”

Johnson is an interesting source for such criticism considering his checkered past. The 28-year-old rookie has bounced around throughout his basketball career and trouble has followed at every stop. Most notably, his hot temper got him permanently banned from the Korean Basketball League in 2010 for flipping off a referee, which was the last straw after a string of misconduct.

seriously, all i could think about when i Read this headline was "who?"

Also, as far as i can tell from the translation the guy is complaining that KG fights for position in the post.

He "hits him" and nobody here "doesn't like to hit, but can handle it"

and people wonder why the NBA is morphing into soccer. I mean, i don't need it to be a blood bath but yes, there should be some elbows and pushing and shoving. It's the playofss young fella, not the all star game

KG is a dirty player, but he is my dirty player. Fact is, if KG had gone to LA in 2007 I would despise him. But he wears green and because of that I LOVE me some Kevin Garnett!!!

The funniest thing is this guy got away with murder on our whole team and he's one to talk. He was shoving and hitting everybody going for rebounds, time to return the favor.

KG said t best last year after all the Noah ish, "Hell yeah I'm trying to gain an advantage out here!  If you can't handle it, get off the court.".

Can you imagine if some of these guys played in the 80's or earlier.  It's physical, kg does vet things to gain an advantage  but he is (generally) not dirty.  Imagine Dave Cowens boxing some of these "pros" out now, guys would be sent into the stands and crying about it.
