I completely agree with this.  Lets worry about the opponent we have right now the Hawks.  I feel bad for DR that this happened.  I would always want the C's to win against their opponents at full strength, I guess that is just me.

I mean the Magic are leading at 1/2 time over the pacers!  Anything can happen, and I am sure that our vets are focusing on the task at hand.  We need to get this 1st game in Atlanta.  Nothing else really matters right now.

Best of luck to DR for a quick recovery.  I hope he can make it back from next year.

Arghh!!! This is starting to get frustrating!!!

Call me crazy, but I would so much prefer not to have these threads about how we match up with the Bulls keep popping up while we are on the eve of a first round series with the Hawks.  I find it arrogant and disrespectful, to be frank.

I like our matchup with the Hawks, too, but I'm not interested in looking past them.  They have home court advantage, and I think they'll be hungry.

Go Celtics!

I think everyone needs to calm down abit...the OP isnt looking past the hawks and saying its automatic we get to the 2nd round

but the path to get to the ECF definitely looks easier now than it did last week..unfortunately to Rose's injury.

No series is going to be easy, but if we can remain relatively healthy i think we have3 the talent to beat anyone

The other issue is that DR was out a couple of the games we played against the bulls.  Didn't seem to give us any real edge.  Maybe in the playoffs it would be different...

Beat Atlanta!

Guys like smoove and joe johnson won't lie down easy.

I agree that the path could get easier if we beat the hawks though.

If we can't beat Atlanta without their 2 starters, this whole team is a joke, Danny should have blown it up years ago.

The Celtics that dispatched Atlanta, Sixers, and Miami (twice) in a 10 day span can not just dream but plan on beating Chicago without their best player.

Come on guys, let's beat the Hawks first and make sure we survive it injury free. It could very well be us or anybody next. No bad karma please.

Sure it will, if we get that far and the Bulls get that far. I know the Bulls have played well all year even without Rose which was a surprise. But the playoffs are different and the Bulls may not even beat the 76ers now.

The C's primary problem will be themselves. They can win it all IF they stay healthy and rebound. That's it. That's all it will take. Stay healthy and bang the boards which usually means sending PP to the boards.

Chicago had a good chance this year, and Rose never got a break from the injuries.
Im really sorry for him and Shumpert, but especially Shumpert.. The guy couldnt even walk.

With Derrick Rose out with an injured ACL (sorry Bulls) and the current state of health of each team in the Eastern Conference, I'm loving the C's chances to make ECF minimum and probably the NBA Finals. C's don't need Ray Allen in Round 1 IMO, especially with Zaza and Horford out. Now that Rose is out, C's may not need Ray until a potential match-up with the Heat. Hell, save him for the Finals if Bradley can check Wade, slash to the basket and hit 3's.

I certainly don't feel bad about other teams injury misfortunes. C's have Wilcox and Green out with freak heart ailments. C's lost out on at least 1, if not 2 or 3 Championships on KG's 2009 knee injury alone, never mind Perkins being out for Game 7 in the 2010 NBA Finals against the despised Fakers. (not to mention, Shaq, Delonte, Quisy, Powe, etc.)

Pierce should be plenty motivated for this playoffs. (moreso than last year) If the team does not do well (make Finals), then Danny Ainge will probably pull the plug on them and may not resign KG/RA for another run or two, going into full-blast rebuilding mode. In that case, Pierce may retire than go through another 2006-07 season again or be traded to some ho-hum team.

Best defense in the NBA!! Let's Go Celtics!

One game at a time people, one game at a time. Let's get past Game 1 Atlanta before booking our reservations for the Finals.

Precisely.

LOL at Thibs. Nice decision there, pal. Might want to give Doc a call to talk the "philosophy of the oft-injured player."

But it means nothing if we don't take care of our business.

I copied and pasted this from ESPN thread about Derrick Rose's injury. The funniest post ever LOL!!!

Please. I know plenty of guys who play basketball at the local YMCA 3 t0 4 hrs a day without subs. D. Rose has been out more then he has been in. Plus there is no stats to support this claim.D. Rose getting hurt doesn't mean the schedule has anything to do with it.

Not over looking the Hawks at all, but I expect our team to come out and take care of business in the 1st round.

Now, coming into the 2nd round against the Bulls (I would presume), losing Rose definitely benefits us and helps our chances. I am not scared of the Bulls at all. What I am worried about is the back2back that is schedule for the 2nd round. If we can get the 1st game of that back2back I am worried that the much younger Bulls team can take advantage of us in the 2nd game and that right there could lead to 2 losses.

We need to take care of the Hawks first, in quick fashion so we can get some much needed rest prior to starting a 2nd round.
