if ray can give the Cs...15-20 minutes a game off the bench..it would be a huge lift

From SI.com . .

The 36-year-old shooting guard said he received a cortisone shot on Wednesday. If it weren't for the playoffs, he said, he'd already be having surgery.

To me that sounds a little different than "Ray needs surgery"

Cortisone shots are relatively effective for short term pain relief.

Long term, those injections are detrimental to complete recovery/healing.

Best case scenario with cortisone injections is you get complete pain relief for 3-4 months, but that doesn't mean the injury is or has healed in that time frame....because what usually happens is you will need another injection after that 3-4 months of pain reprieve. (And sometimes the pain comes back worse than before, and most of the time the 2nd cortisone shot doesn't do diddly.)

Ray actually had problems with his left ankle and sat out a few games allowing Bradley to play as the starter.

What the Celtics should have done (in hindsight) was to shut Ray down completely until the playoffs started.

TP because that is true. This is kind of like the Shaq situation but much, much brighter. Ray is younger, much fitter and less banged up.

Really?

Ray is one of our bench players, if he cant play other guys can step up and fill the void.

DOOM AND GLOOMERS out in full force.

Come on now. It's small bone spurs. This means arthroscopic surgery which is basically Surgery-Lite. You can play through them it will just cause swelling and soreness until he gets the spurs removed.

We are a smart fan base, lets act like it.

If ray had played a convincing game in the past 15 I would acknowledge that it's something he could overcome. No matter how pansy ass you make the injury sound, he's still not dealing with it well...

how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was chris bosh?

Without JO and Ray Allen our team is young and fast again, lets not act like Ray was our MVP and best player, he is a bench player that is a spot up 3 point shooter, we can win without him, and we will.

Like who? Moore? Pietrus? Dooling?
Just tell me who is that guy in our bench to hit contested threes and get all the attention of defense on himself?
Never mind. You would take Steve Novak over Ray Allen at any day, so, I should just keep my mouth shut.

And for the record, he isn't a bench player. He's our sixth man, doing what Harden, Ginobili, Terry do for their teams.

well, the 3 games he played after the cortisone shot when he first came back, I thought he played pretty well off the bench.

he wasnt lights out as he was earlier in the season. but if he can perform to that level not being 100% we can mask it sort of if bradley continues to perform the way he has been

We have been winning without Ray. That said, I do not want him on another team that we have to play against because he is capable of bombing the hell out of that net in crucial moments.
I moved the cheese.

Ray cant hit contested threes. If he has a man on him that close he passes the ball to another player or turns it over. Hes a spot up shooter and bench player, he is what he is, dont try to make it seem like hes an MVP.

I repeat, hes a bench role player, other guys will be given the opporunity to step up.

If Ray can play in 3 or 4 games this playoffs thats all we need, think about it, Ray has been a no-show for tons of playoff series.

He was good for 1 game in the 2010 NBA Finals. He completed dissapeared for the rest of the series and Derek Fisher was guarding him.

He was also a no show in the 2008 Playoffs and couldnt hit a shot until the ECF vs the Pistons.

He was good in the Bulls series in 2009.

He has historically not been very relibable in the playoffs, all we need is a few games out of him, if he can play a few games, he will basically have done the same thing hes done his entire career here, show up in a few playoff games.

He'll be as good as his injection lasts....each one has less effect than the last , and there is max of like 3-4 you can take ove r a certain short period.  SO he'll feel like superman for a week or so and then its back to realtiy and if he can't have another shot ...he's done for the year.

The injection might buy him 2-3 games.

IMO it would also be better for the Celtics as opposed to 30 minutes of Ray. If Jesus can give the '12 C's what Eddie House gave them in '08 it'd be awesome.
