Just saw a tweet from John Hollinger suggesting Allen needs surgery.

RT @Pflanns: Ray Allen said that if his ankle injury had been earlier in the season he would have had surgery.

Looks like this was first reported by Paul Flannery.

That does not sound promising at all.  Hopefully he'll be able to play through it.

We will need Ray, but ill be honest here, out of the big 4 hes the one with the least playoff impact and over his career here has has the lowest productive playoffs out of the big 4. I think we will still win 18 if he cant go or can only give us limited minutes, which is what he should be getting at this stage in his career. Lets bring him in in the 4th quarter to hit some buckets. Best of luck to Ray though.

I think you forgot what happened in that Bulls series in 2009. Having the greatest 3-point shooter in NBA history on our side goes ways to increase our chances in the playoffs. Our bench is average at best with Ray and now that he's out, our back up guards consist of Dooling and Moore? MP and Steamer are great pieces sure but we cannot compete for a championship without either Dooling or Moore stepping up their play. Else, Rondo and Bradley will be spent in the later rounds.

They need to just shut him down for the year, and lets move on, we are playing better without him, no need to have that question mark looming over the team, this is a repeat of Shaq last year and it was almost the same exact injury. Both needed surgery in the offseason.

Understatement of the year coming up ...

This news is disappointing.

Whoever made the 2012 Celtics voodoo dolls was very talented ..
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

- If he can play I want him out there.
- I don't understand why we would shut him down because of a "question mark looming over the team".
- It's not "almost the same exact injury" as Shaq had.

Pretty typical for his problem, and it gives me no more pause than what there was already ... it's something he can play with, (to about 75%), and I would've been surprised to hear he didn't need to have surgery in the off-season ... it's minimally invasive, (depending on the location), and the recuperative time/process is not extensive.

From SI.com . .

The 36-year-old shooting guard said he received a cortisone shot on Wednesday. If it weren't for the playoffs, he said, he'd already be having surgery.

To me that sounds a little different than "Ray needs surgery"

DOOM AND GLOOMERS out in full force.

Come on now. It's small bone spurs. This means arthroscopic surgery which is basically Surgery-Lite. You can play through them it will just cause swelling and soreness until he gets the spurs removed.

We are a smart fan base, lets act like it.
