i never lost respect for him. I would have left Cleveland for Miami too. I spent a weekend in Cleveland and wanted to kill myself. Those miserable people didn't deserve him.
That said... I think it's funny that you decided you liked him a bit more after watching a PSA on "staying in school" from him... a multimillionare athlete who merely graduated high school. Lol. For some reason I always assume kids like him get off easy in high school (and College, probably)... Maybe I've seen too many movies where the coaches force the teachers to skew the grades so the star athlete can continue to win games. Either way, I think there had to be a better candidate for the "stay in school" gig than one of the "straight to the pros" players. I mean, at least they didn't pick Kevin Garnett. Supposedly KG just barely graduated. It's common knowledge that one of the main reasons he jumped to the pros was because he didn't qualify academically for College... makes you wonder if the stories about schools having lax requirements for athletes are true.
THey should do a parody of this video. "My life is full of statistics... thing is, I could have become one too and dropped out of school, but I didn't... because I was a phenom high school basketball star on the cover of Sports Illustrated, I had a documentary crew following my team, I won a national championship... my games were televised on ESPN... and frankly dropping out or failing wasn't an option my "people" would have allowed.... everyone (from my teammates, coaches, school, etc) had too much to gain from my success"
