I am starting to get worried about Ray. I hope he plays some in the regular season. He needs to get some game action before the playoffs to try to get in a rhythm and get some timing back. I know we have been winning without him, but no doubt his bench production will be key to our playoff success.

If he isn't playing hopefully we are having some practices and he is participating full speed in those.

Hopefully, Ray Allen can play himself into shape during the first round.

It looks like it'll be Atlanta. I think Boston can beat Atlanta without Ray at full strength (or even without Ray at all). More concerned about him being ready for the second round when matched up against Miami or Chicago.

The play of Avery Bradley makes me worry less and less about Ray Allen honestly.

But yea, we will definately need him if were going to get past th e 2nd round.

You have to factor in that Ray Allen, every single year, goes missing for 1 or 2 rounds in the playoffs, it happens every single time.

Even if Ray Allen does return, he might not show up until the 2nd or 3rd round.

07' he couldnt make a shot until the ECF, and in 2010 he had one good game and disapeared for the rest of the finals.

Right now, I think Allen is the major concern because the trajectory of his “recovery” is creepily similar to Kevin Garnett in 2009 and Shaq last season. It starts with the assumption that the player will return, lingers through a bunch of DNPs which are contextualized with reassuring comments that the player is on the path to recovery and will be available for the playoffs. And then come the overt public admissions that the player may not return at all, or is not responding to treatment

I thought this said it well.

Doc and Danny, pushing the right buttons again.  There is no need for him to rush back to play in meaningless games.

Ray Allen will roll out of bed and hit jump shots in his 50's.  Not worried about him at all.

I have to admit I am a little worried about Ray's condition as well.  It would be great to get Ray some minutes in the last games heading into the playoffs.  It is hard to separate the spin from the truth about these injuries.

I also wonder about how RA's state of mind, with the trade issues & coming of the bench, plays into this.  The disappointment with those issues + the injury hopefully doesn't impact his attitude.  We really need Ray in the playoffs.

Finally mentioning the elephant in the room.

Yes im worried about him health wise and mentally.

I just don't see how he can play a few games and play them reasonably well, and then after like a week rest Doc claim that even if it were playoffs he wouldn't be able to go against the Magic.

Mentally he admits he is not comfortable off the bench and doesn't think he has time to adjust. Missing more and more time can only hurt that.

Hoping that he is just getting healthy but boy we have been screwed alot in these situations

I'm a bit worried about Ray, because the team would really have to step up to win in the playoffs without him--but more about Ray if he and Pietrus are both out.

And I'm worried about Rondo.  Until he's back and playing unencumbered, his back is a real concern.

The team has to get healthy.  I think they realized now that they erred by playing the old guys and Pietrus as heavily as they did during the triple-back, and the question is whether a week's rest can undo the damage done.

Everybody's going to be nicked up going into the playoffs, but that's gut check time and I'm guessing we'll be fine.

Ray is gonna do his thing off the bench and it's smart that we didn't put him back into the lineup before his ankle is as good as it can get.

Pietrus' knee has been swelling all year, but when he plays he's pretty much unencumbered. Same with Ray. He's a machine.

I was there for Rondo's fall and it was loud man. His tail is gonna be bruised up for a while.

I am very worried about Ray.  I am getting the feeling this is one of those ankle injuries that are not cured by rest, and with his history of ankle troubles, it could require surgery.  So, I am afraid we could be looking at something in the KG in '09 or Shaq in '11 situation, where it just doesn't get better on its own, and despite always being day to day, he keeps getting scratched in the playoffs.

I'm only worried about the ankle, not about getting him into shape... the guys a vet, he's been in the league for around 15 years he'll be able to get himself into shape quickly... but only if the ankle gets better

My wife saw him driving around today in Newton.  He got out of the car and was wearing a boot.  She didn't know he was injured and called me to ask whether or not he was in fact hurt.  Hopefully the boot is just a protective measure.

TP for the inside info.  Seeing the boot is not what we all wanted to hear though...crap.

Depends what kind of boot it was. I don't like Cowboy boots.
We all think we know more than we really do....

I hope Moore gets plenty of minutes and shots up in these last few games.

I also hope JJ gets lots of minutes. If Bass or Garnett went down, we would need him to step in, and he hasn't been prepared to jump into the mix.
