If Ray and Pietrus aren't healthy for the playoffs, yes it is a terrible bench.  If only one makes it back in good form, it's mighty thin.

If KG, Bass or Stiemer gets injured, the team is done for anyway.

If Dooling's taking the majority of shots off the bench (5 of 8 last night), the team is in deep trouble.

Not developing one Boilermaker as an offensive option, not putting more emphasis on Sasha's shooting during the season, and not integrating Stiemer better into the bench offense may be three moves that come back to bite Doc in the playoffs.

next year we should be able to add 2 1st rounders, green and nenad to the bench, as well as allen and pietrus who were injured, and also moore and jjj should be much improved with an entire offseason.

but with how the knicks were draining 3's most team would have lost.

Nenad isn't coming back, he likes it in CSKA and has excellent teammates in Teodosic and Kirilenko. They made it to the final 4 in the Euroleague, so I'm guessing he'll stay there.

But there's a glimmer of hope because he's really mad because the doctors over there failed to discover that he broke his foot, so basically he played 3 weeks with the fracture and he got real mad at them.

he came back once, think it would depend on the offer like last time, i know there he doesn't pay tax there, which would make it hard. no bigger, steamer shouldn't take all the MLE should be enough left for around 2 mill, should be enough for a worthwhile big to target, best case sceranio anthony randolph

Our bench is not awful... 55-2 looks bad... but Novak and Smith (their two best bench players) accounted for 50 points... In comparison, our two best bench players (Pietrus and Allen) didn't play... So theoretically, if Novak and Smith were out... it woulda been 5-2

No Pietrus hurt us as he is a good perimeter defender but they were hot.   Sometimes the stars align and a team gets hot and there is nothing you can do to stop them.  Their shots were falling it was their night.  It isn't the end of the world.   I like our bench when Ray plays and Pietrus a whole lot better.

Yeah against most teams losing two guards is bad, but against the small Knicks team it was compounded.

Steamer's line last night:

9:46 played
0 pts
0 rbnds
0 stls
0 assts
0 blcks

But it wasn't total waste of time:

He had 3 PFS!

Last night's loss doesn't bother me.

Rondo getting hurt.

Pierce getting hurt a couple times.

Those things bother me.

No Wilcox, Green, JO certainly catches up when some of the other guys can't play.  We are really down to 8.

Don't expect much from the Purdue rooks, Sasha, and Hollins....but man, Dooling just doesn't have game.   Last night was his chance to be the bench guy and bring it....DWest, as fragile as he was, gave us more.

We still currently hold Bird Rights over Nenad Krstic, however, we will have to renounce his rights - otherwise he will be due something between 105% and 250% of his previous salary.  So Krstic's cap hold would be $14.5 million (250% of his previous salary).

So not only do you have to hope he comes back to the league, but you would have to hope that he'd be interested in resigning with the Celtics as a UFA.

His cap hold won't be a big deal if we decide to forgo cap space.  If the plan is just to bring back our own free agents (KG, Bass, Green, etc.) and use the MLE, then there's no need to renounce anybody.

Yeah i didn't quite look at it from that perspective.  In that sense Krstic is definitely worth considering as he's having a really strong season overseas right now.

And the biggest part about missing JO is that had he been playing and healthy, then it would have had Bass coming off the bench.  And this isn't even mentioning Jeff Green.

The C's can't complain too much about injuries, because for the most part, their top players have stayed on the court (we will see what happens with Ray), but their bench has been absolutely killed with injuries this year.

True. And *if* Ray and MP had played they could've gone three of 20 from downtown: Voila, nine points and a Celts W.
