  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I've been pushing for Brandon Rush as our Ray replacement of the future. He doesn't exactly play like Ray but the man can shoot, put the ball in the floor and puts good effort on defense.

Like Koufos, but I believe he signed an extension already.

Jason Thompson is another guy I'd like to have. Athletic big who can rebound.

I don't know but I like Nick Young. Maybe as an off the bench scorer. Remember, we got Stephon and Nate Robinson to play good defense, maybe Nick could be the same.

Landry Fields, solid acquisition as a backup 2/3. All around players.

These are the names I want the Celtics to at least give a look. I want to put in Hawes and Ilyasova but both are on record that they want to get paid, a lot.

With the exception of Gordon, these guys are all marginal NBA players.

The first rule for teams with cap room is "do not waste cap room on marginal players."

Even Gordon is likely to be overpaid. He's a nice All-Star level talent, but not a franchise player.

They do give you a solid bench if you get a couple of them for the right price.

We don't know if there are franchise quality or all star tier talents that'll be available or who wants to sign in Boston. ANd since the new CBA says you need to use the cap, why not solidify the bench with it, if you can't sign a top tier player that is.

we will need at least a greater part of the MLE for steamboat cos they don't have his bird rights.

Btw we don't get a MLE if we sign a free agent who's bird
rights we don't hold using cap rooom.

Think the best offseason is to bring back kg, allen, bass, green, stiemsma and krstic that will take them to just below the tax threshold including the rookies and 1-2 possible vet min guys.

Mid season ainge can then try to make a move depending on the performance of the team.

That's the only concern. Hope not. They have Klay, RJ and two first rounders, they can find a replacement for Rush there.

even if you could nab rush for say best case 5 mill, you would be able to sign only two of brandon, steamer, green, allen and nenad if you bring back kg, cos you wouldn't have enough cap space, unless you convinced GS to take one back in a sign and trade for rush. Sign and trades and the key to the offseason.

Other guys I would like to target in sign and trades is Landry from New Orleans or Ersan from the bucks, or even Hawes from philly

nick young is a joke

Averaging 1.0 assists per game in his career or something like that. Total joke.

Brandon Bass averages .6 assists per game for his career but does his job and plays his role well....Is he a joke too?

Nick Young is in the league to score. He does it well. He has Chris Paul to distribute the ball, so let him shoot.

There is a lot of young, underutilized talent coming onto the free agent market this off-season. We all know the big ticket guys, and the medium ticket guys, but these 10 guys have all produced at certain points in their careers, and are all 26 and under:

Spencer Hawes, C, 23
Kosta Koufos, C, 23
Jason Thompson, FC, 25
Marreese Speights, FC, 24
Anthony Randolph, PF, 22
Brandan Wright, PF, 24
Landry Fields, SG, 23
Brandon Rush, SG, 26
Nick Youn, SG, 26
Jerryd Bayless, G, 23

All of these guys would play well off of Rondo, and each of them bring at least one NBA skills to the table - shooting, rebounding, shot blocking, defense, etc...

None of them have ever played with a realy pointguard for a full season, and at their ages, still have plenty of room to improve.

isn't Ersan Ilyasova an unrestricted FA? He's certainly young. He's the guy I would go after. Big, excellent rebounding this year since Bogut went down, and he can stretch the floor with his 3 pt shooting.

You forgot "looks like a mutant Jeff Buckley" .. but, yeah, Ilyasova would be good.
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

Speights catches my eye right off the bat... Other than that Im not too excited about the young free agent pool.

yeah, not anyone there i think ainge should invest heavily in for the long term. if one of them comes cheap or or a short contract, then ainge might sign him.

as mentioned above, tying up salary with long term contracts to mediocre players is the best way to long term mediocrity as a team. no thank you.

in terms of free agents, i think ainge for next year will resign the celtics vets, other vets at 1-2 year contracts. what will be interesting is the pool of free agents TWO year from now. that is when ainge will have money and the vets will be pretty well gone.

ainge will be patient. his planning gives him that luxury.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Is Hansbrough a RFA?
