Smith said Mitchell is "almost sure" he'll return to North Texas for one more year, though there's still a slim chance that could change before the April 29 early-entry deadline depending on who the Mean Green hire as their next coach.

"He is definitely going to enter the draft after his sophomore season, but I think he knows it would benefit him to come back next year," Smith said. "He told me, 'I know physically I can go but mentally i think i need one more year.' That says a lot about his maturity."

Too bad, that's going to thin out the draft around our end.

He was a guy I would have loved to see running in the open court with Rondo and Bradley.

I think he'll be better than Perry Jones and Terrence Jones. Let's hope he gets some good advice outside of his inner circle.

It could be, but wouldn't attempting to get a guarantee potentially result in some NCAA penalties for himself if he didn't get one and stays in school, and some penalties from the NBA to the team who gives him one if he enters the draft?  Until he says "I'm in," I don't think teams can talk to him.

More likely it's a kid who was intending on staying in school to become a lottery pick, and then had his world turned upside down when his coach bolted, and isn't sure what to do.  If I were advising him, I'd tell him to go, seeing as it seems unlikely that he'll slip out of the first round and the guaranteed contracts that results in.
