I'd prefer Orlando, mostly because I think they're equally good opponents but Atlanta plays a horrifically boring brand of basketball.

Seconded - Orlando will be more entertaining at least.
Also it'd be like practice with the Big Three abusing Baby at all costs  :)

I think I'd rather play Orlando in the first.

I could easily see a matchup vs. Atlanta become a physical, taxing series (KG vs. Zaza is a highly combustible situation that could easily spark a brawl with injuries and/or suspensions to follow).

Whereas I feel that Orlando will quickly roll over once they are down 2 games.

Not concerned with who Boston plays in the first round. No preference.
What about being the 3 or the 4 seed? Would you rather play Miami or Chicago in the second round before the ECF.

I'm not sure, Miami who's in a groove by the ECF would be incredibly tough to beat. But if Rose and the Bulls have adjusted to his nagging injury they're a worse match up due to their rebounding prowess.

Miami is, for sure, very difficult to beat, but we match up with Chicago worse. Their size and depth is something that we just couldn't find an answer yet.
But as stated above, we will need to beat both, so I'm not concerned about third seed that much.

And when it comes to the first round opponent, Atlanta and Orlando lack belief to win a play-off series this season, as Atlanta is without Horford, and Orlando is struggling with off-court issues. So, we should beat either team with 'relative' ease, in my opinion.

  • You say when......
Does anyone else prefer Atlanta to Orlando in the 1st round? With Garnett playing out of position (and Stiemsma as our only depth at the Center spot), I just fear the size matchup against Howard if he's healthy for the playoffs. Might not be that big of issue because we usually play Orlando well but just though I'd open it up for discussion.
THIS is exactly why i have been saying better get JJJ and Hollis a lot of playing time now...so they can have more knowledge and experience in case we need them to play vs some big  men......and all this talk about "shorten the roster for the playoffs", that is for teams that can afford to do it. As it is, we don't ever practice, so how would you expect these kids to be ready when called. You cannot expect all things to remain constant just because you like them that way.

Some say they look bad out there...they don't look bad, they look like guys who have had no time to learn the Celtics systems. And they won't learn them in garbage time. They have to learn it on their own now, then play with the vets to make it real. You watch the vets play, drive, then dish to a guy they never even looked at......EXPERINCE and knowledge of our system.....so don't go saying hollis or jjj don't do that....it would be almost impossible to learn it by rubbing their butts on the bench for 3 hours at a time...!

I'd rather face miami in round two. I don't think we can beat both Miami AND Chicago, but I don't think Miami can beat both us and Chicago either. I can accept the bulls winning everything if we lose, but I will hate a Miami championship almost as much as I'd love a celtics championship

TP.  I share that sentiment.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

If we did get eliminated but took Miami down in the process I probably wouldnt even be mad. Yea I wish we could go all the way but we still got some payback to do.  ;)

Both Glen Davis and Howard look underdone....

I would definitely prefer orlando and feel it would be an easier series.
