I'd like to add that there should be a huge ceremony to honor Tommy for his lifetime of excellence as a celtic player, coach, and commentator. He bleeds green and dedicated his life to the team. There is only one Tommy Heinson and he should get a huge ceremony before he's too old or not around to appreciate it.

I fail to see what is so objectionable about Donny Marshall. I mean, some of the comments here are pretty rough and without a good justification. Perhaps this is supposed to be just a fun thread because the suggested alternatives don't sound serious.

When I listen to Marshall, I just take it from the point of view of a former player. Of course Tommy is better, but folks should not worry about having Donny for the next 40 years just because Tommy lasted that long.

To me Donny doesn't have any emotion. He sounds like a robot. I liked it when Max and Mike did a game together. I think the perfect replacement for Tommy down the road would be Scal.

Gary Tanguay?

i can't believe you would even consider this an option. Gary Tanguay is an idiot and knows nothing about basketball. i like Donny in the studio because he actually knows what he's talking about and IS NOT BIASED ! i know some fans don't like that but it's needed. i would like cedric maxwell to fill his shoes.

I would go with Maria Menounos, great looking, a celtics fan, AND she knows about basketball.
The woman who played "sexy nurse" in Fantastic Four? I'd totally take that.

I like him -- more as a studio guy, but OK with him as a part-time color guy.  Color guys often take a while to become seasoned.  Max was awful early on, as was Jerry Remy. They were both criticized in a big way early in their work as color guys.

But my guess is that Donny will get a national gig in the near future.  He's decent looking, reasonably articulate, a young guy who played with/against a lot a current players, and he comes across pretty affable as well.   I see him as more of a studio guy, but I think he'll get increased national notice in the next few years.  Someone else will be Tommy's replacement.

Antione Walker needs a job.

I would definitely try him out. I'm not crazy about the idea though
