TOR shot 35% against us from the field, 39.6 eFG%.  That's not lights out and it's below their average, especially given the level of defensive intensity they faced from us.  All our starters played at least 32 minutes, so we ended up with the worst of both worlds.

I place the primary responsibility for this loss on RR.  It is now clear what bothers me about him-he is quickly becoming the Wade Boggs of the current Celtics.  What we needed last night was for him to score, and he could have done so at will against the D-league players who were covering him, however, he was more concerned about extending his assist record.

I wouldn't even blame Doc.

These games just happen - even to the best of teams.

I remember that ONE HOME LOSS to Portland WAAAYYY back in 1986.....wow. No one saw THAT coming.

We ended up with only one home loss that season because of them. Totally unexpected.

Bad games happen.

At least Pietrus is looking good, and Ray is getting more rest.

Yawn...how original to blame rondo and say he should be a scorer in the games we lose...what a knucklehead to try and stick to whats been working!
team loss.

I blame the whole team for not showing up.  They came to play we didn't.  We tried to get cute and win it at the end but it came back to haunt us.  Really only Greg, Avery and Petrius came to play I thought and the other guys mailed it in thinking we could win with no effort.

We played to the level of our opponents, it's as simple as that.

So you knew going into the game that we needed Rondo to score and not pass? You knew that the guys were all going to be missing the same open shots that they generally hit?

I also think Doc deserves the blame for this loss. This game could have been won, but he messed with the rotations, and that clearly sent a signal of sorts that the team could relax. I blame Doc.

Again, unless he didn't play the regular starters it wasn't his fault... they came out looking like they didn't care and played like it!

I remember the Celtics having a 13 point lead. I thought they looked ok. If Doc would of stuck with his rotations, the game might have been a huge blowout by the 4th and the starters could have rested then.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Doc blamed himself after the game for the same reasons, so the OP has a good point. He sent the wrong message to start the game with his rotations. When the team came out flat in the 2nd half he could've pulled the starters to get them focused.

The guy I wanted to see more from was Bradley. I expected everyone else to be on cruise control; these are the types of games I'm hoping he can take over in the future.

Can someone explain this thread to me?  Doc lost the game in the first half when we were leading for almost all of it?  By playing Marquis and Hollins a TOTAL of 11 minutes?

?
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

The whole deal sucked from Doc on down.

I knew they were going to lose this.  Pierce is Sooooooooooooo freakin predictable.  He plays hard when he wants and coasts quite intentionally when he wants.

Pierce was gearing up for a big of night of standing around and doing nothing....its almost funny.....he plays when he is good and ready ...whether any of us like it or not....

Well Paul Pierce has "coasted" to a NBA title and another Finals appearance. Or would you rather Lebron who plays hard for all 48 minutes but never gets it done?

I remember that same lead coming when Doc started his rotations! The starters looked like they could care less from the tip!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

It's Doc's mistake, it's RR's mistake, it's PP's mistake..
Come on! It's the whole thing. The TEAM did not show up, showed no heart and seemed uninterested about the prospects of a win.
I agree that Doc could have been more assertive, Rajon could have been more aggresive and Paul could have attacked the basket a lot more than he actually did (maybe he did once or twice towards the end). Let's just move on and see what happens tonight.

We may end up playing without energy, because we have been going through a brutal stretch. It's acceptable.
But still, look for the whole team to come out a lot more focused. It will be there. We will see if their legs follow them as well.
