  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
On this year's FA class the Celtics will have some cap room to sign some quality players and make the transition from the Big 3 to a new era of Celtics basketball.

So, either KG, Ray, Bass and some other stay or not, which FA's should the Celtics pursue to helo us at least be a playoff team for the years to come.

Who do you guys have in mind?

This isnt a free agent target but i've been keeping an eye on Philly and it seems that Evan Turner is in and out of favor there and Philly management is much higher on Jrue Holiday for some reason.

For an extremely talented #2 pick I think he could excel in the right system and with the right opportunities. Perhaps some sort of trade could be worked for him while his perceived value is still relatively low.

Deron Williams is the only free agent worth pursuing for this team.  No one else is or has a shot at being a difference maker and you don't sign role players when you don't have a championship quality team.

Now there might be guys available in the trade market where our cap space might come in handy.  I would certainly look at some of those players (like Josh Smith, Al Jefferson, Evan Turner, etc.).

I am thinking one year deals for a guy like Elton Brand or Kwame Brown.

Then a small money two to three year contract for a guy that has been stuck behind someone for their rookie deal.

I really want a big who can take a trailing transition three without making people cringe.  There are only a few players who fit that description.

Kaman,Humpheries or Camby on one year deals(to keep max cap space for the big free agents of 2013)

Illiasova on a 3yr/8 mil per(Rondo would make this kid a stud)

I wouldn't offer long term contracts to too many of the free agents this year, 2013 free agent list is much better .

Turner will eventually evolve into one of the most versatile players in the NBA. He got stuck in the heavily loaded Sixers rotation a bit, but there are signs that he has the tools to optimize the talent he possesses.
I'd definitely like him in green, although I'm not sure if Philly will be giving up on him so quickly.

Can Deron play the 2, and more importantly can he play off-the-ball? Everything about his personality suggests he wouldn't be content to play in a system where the ball isn't always going through him.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
Humphries, ilyasova, beasley, anthony randolph, hibbert, mcgee, gordon, oj mayo, cj miles, lou williams.

Those are guys I would like to look into but I think realistically we end up signing our own guys then filling up our cap space with traded players from teams looking to shed salary.possible options: lamar odom, shawn marion, josh smith, kevin martin.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

There is no way that Kaman signs a 1 year deal.  We need a rebounding big or 2 for sure.

whomever they pursue should be willing to sign for 1 to 2 years max. that will allow ainge to put a credible team on the floor while preparing for pierce's departure.

by keeping money available each year, it allows ainge to go after free agents not just this year, but for the next year or two as well.

i think ainge doesnt trust the lottery to rebuild the celtics. better to get strong role players through the draft, and cheaply. then put them together with a few great free agents.

free agents come along each year, and this year's group is not that great after howard i think. better to get some folks for a year and keep options open going forward.

If we offer him a 1 year 9 or 10 mil deal ? No other contender is going to have that kind of money to offer him, the most contender can offer is the mle . He has already made a crap load of money in the NBA and hasn't ever gotten the chance to compete for anything , I don't see him signing with lottery bound teams just because they offer 1 or 2 more year. I mean if he has any kind of competitive bone in his body I would think he would strongly consider a 1 year deal on a contender( where if he helps them win a championship his contract offers could be even greater the following year )

I think he could, but I don't really know.  If he can't then you trade Rondo for a big man and build around Deron and the big guy.
