Here's a better question, would you trade Rondo and both 1st round picks for Anthony Davis? I would have to be getting at least a 2nd back too ( which would be a high second round pick from the team that traded Davis for Rondo)

Even if we offered all of our picks and everyone on our roster, we could not get Davis.

Whether it's warranted or not, he is perceived right now as a franchise-changing talent.

Interesting idea. The Blazers have 2 lottery bound picks, as well. If they offer those two picks (albeit, the pick they got from NJ is top 3 protected) for Rondo and nothing else, I would do it. That'll give the Celtics 4 1st rounders and could gamble on those 2 non-lottery picks.
Hypothetically speaking, the Blazers get the 4th overall pick from the NJ trade and Portland's own between 9 and 12, that will possibly allow the Celtics to get Thomas Robinson, Andre Drummond, Terrence Jones or Harrison Barnes. And with their own two picks, they could get either Zellers, either Lambs or their future point guard, Kendall Marshall.
Interesting, indeed.

I would rather have Rondo than any of those players or combo of players. Drummond has bust written all over him,Terrence Jones will be solid, but nothing special in the NBA, Harrison Barnes could be a starter, but don't see him as a franchise changer. Thomas Robinson is very talented and athletic, but he is also undersized , not sure he will be much more than a Boozer type in the NBA

Rondo effects every aspect of the game more than any of those players, the only player in the draft worth giving up Rondo for is Anthony Davis.

Yes, this is the kind of rebuild we should at least consider. As I previously stated, I like Zeller, as he seems to have good fundamentals and an offensive game. Drummond, to me, seems like a project. His offense mainly comes on put backs, and he's a horrendous free throw shooter. Jeremy Lamb is going to be a stud. I could see him being a Kevin Martin kind of scorer, with better defense. And Kendall Marshall is  definitely a visionary point guard. If we walked out of this draft with a combo of J.Lamb/K.Marshall/T.Zeller that would equal a very good draft to me.  With that late first, we could always try our luck on a guy like Fab Melo.

Not before we know what # of picks they are. However if we know the Williams will sign with us then yes I would do it.

  • You say when......
Is this consly something to talk about for fun..? Bob Cousey himself said he would keep Rondo.....how can most here think they know better...Cousey is old you say...do you think he just stopped paying attention the day he stopped playing..or from his playing he still couldn't know as much as you..? Rondo signed for short $$$..Deron, did nothing for the C's, yet you want to give him the most possible....then how much will you have to sign others to RUN / play with him....stop this talk once and for all....The C's have all the pg they need...what they need is younger talent to run with rondo, size, youth and speed.....WHAT will deron do here with the same problems rondo had here.....God, no wonder politicians take advantage of you.

If Danny can see a Larry Bird potential in the draft, he would do it.

Bob Cousy barely knows the names of the players on this team.

Would I trade Rondo for two lotto picks?.... sure.  Does that mean i'm freeing up another 10 million in cap space?  I'd then offer Deron a max deal and still have enough money to bring back KG, Ray, Jeff Green and Bass.

2 lottery picks....ha...guys you know nothing about...like the big center that went to portland....you'd get 2 Oden's.....genuis.....! What you do is keep rondo, and get kg, pp, ray replacements...young guys that can work with them, learn from them, and run when they can't....you won't understand this obvioulsy...

cousey barely knows the names....it must be true because you talk with him regularly..lottery picks for the league leader in assists....on a team that does not score 100 points a night....you ever hear of John Stockton...probably not.....but he was one of the best pg's also ever.....rondo is now being compared to him.....too bad you probably never saw him play.......there IS something to experience...you'll see one day...maybe....not all do.
