Hearing Doc so critical of the team last night really was refreshing.  After losses many prefer to make excuses and look at any perceived negativity as a slight of the team.

Doc didn't use any excuses after the team collapsed against the Bulls in the 2nd half.  None of this is just made up stories but words right from Doc himself.  To hear him so honest and critical shows he realizes how important the rest of this regular season is.  Instead of making countless excuses he knows what this team is capable of and expects them to perform at a consistently high level.

Here it is straight from Doc ---

"I had to use two timeouts in the first half to remind us that we actually had an NBA game to play and that we needed to play," a ruffled Rivers told reporters in Chicago. "I thought that was the worst loss for us this year, with the way we approached the game. Then in the second half, I just thought Chicago, they were too tough for us. Their toughness made us let go of the ropes. You could see it, we wanted to use all the excuses all night. I just through Chicago was too tough for us tonight.

"I think this team has shown great resolve, but right now, that's twice now [the Celtics have struggled in Chicago]. They get into it, they get frustrated, and our guys let go of the ropes. Bottom line, we’re not going to go a lot of places playing with that type of mental toughness. Chicago’s tougher than us right now. We’ve got three weeks [until the playoffs], with the way we’re playing; If we play like that, we’ll be playing [a top seed like Chicago] in the first round, so we gotta get better."

"That was unacceptable. That’s on me first. I did something where -- I didn’t see something tonight; It’s always on the coach. That’s an unacceptable effort for us. I don’t say that very often. I don’t think I’ve ever said that. That was a crime. It was tough to talk after the game, because about what? We gotta be better than that. I don’t want to hear about us winning crap, not with that effort."

"Listen, I’m just p---ed at the way we played," fumed Rivers. "Honestly, the playoffs are the furthest thing from my mind. We haven’t been that way, but we were tonight.

"We were cool tonight. We were the cool Boston Celtics, that’s who we looked like. Walking the ball up [and] we couldn’t get the ball inbounds, no one wanted to work. We were the cool Celtics and there's nothing about me that's cool, I can tell you that. We don't play basketball cool."

This team makes me sick.

If they put in the effort we all know they could they would be a top team in the league. But the team is a joke. Effort is inconsistent and that is embarrassing.

I don't know why I was stupid enough to get my hopes back up after the Heat game. I'm a dumbass for letting them goad me in like that.

F this team.

It seems like Doc's not the only one ripping into this team right now.

I'm kinda surprised at Doc being that harsh.  I hope it has the desired effect.

It's all just to see if they respond it's good he did that now lets see how they bounce back, who we got next?

We should have won this game in the opening of the third quarter we just gave it away.

I knew the Miami game was a  fluke and I understand Docs anger especially if he sees the potential this team has to win. It's sad he had to keep telling them what he said to keep them engaged. It seems like at times they lost their hunger and drive to win like they know they don't have a chance this year.

I will say this offseason they need to get bigs who can rebound because looking how they rebound and the lack of it is making me sick and tired. I don't understand why they can't seem to get bigs or anyone who's willing to rebound the ball.

I'm really not that upset.  This was a back to back game. I'm more upset they didn't win the Spurs game.  The lack of rebounding was what made me a little upset.

Well, after that butt-chewing, I expect BOS to go into Indy and get a win on Saturday....

They'd better.

I agree with Doc, though...and while the MIA victory was a great one, but it's no time to rest on our laurels.

I love this team, and while the last two losses have been disappointing, we've still got a lot of basketball to play.

Doc frustration is mainly because he was out-coached last-night. Its hard to accept a loss from your ex assistant whom didn't even have his best player playing. On a positive note the team looked great having Avery start & Ray coming off the bench. Our biggest problem has still not been addressed R.E.B.O.U.N.D.I.N.G. Oh my we suck at it! :o

I'm in favor of Kris Humphries next year coming here.

I'd rather Bass come back. I like Humphries' game, but if he comes here what happens to Bass?

Good for Doc.  Nice gut check speech, better now than playoff time.  The Celtics can only go as far as their effort.  I feel we can beat any upper level team in the league but can also be beat by any team in the upper level.  Have to see how that works out in the playoffs.  Again EVERYONE has to take note of the crazy schedule this season, you are seeing many teams loose games they shouldn't (see philly vs. washington) etc etc

as for this:

He goes to another team and is overpaid for being a good jump shooter, who plays bad defense, and is a poor rebounder.
