Probably.  Every contendor in teh league is going to want Ray on their roster next season.  Coming off the bench for an average (at best) team would be a weird choice

Would you have posted this if Pierce hit the shot at the end of the game?

Or would everyone then be saying, we never would have won if Ray didn't hit that three?

I currently like AVERY BRADLEY better in our system AT THIS TIME.

But Jeremy Lin was also the best player in NYC 2 months ago.
What happened to him?

I totally see where you are coming from the Lin statement. AB could start playing horrible and this was all just a hot streak.

However there are differences. AB was the top recruit in his high school class. He is a legitimate NBA athlete whose speed, stamina, acceleration, and leaping ability are all superior to Lin and many other players. Confidence was his biggest thing and he has that now. He has one superior talent that almost no other player in the NBA can match and that's his man to man defense. He is also not a product of the system. Lin really benefited from D'Antoni's system and just because Woodson took over doesn't mean they just did away with all D'Antoni's offense mid-season. AB is very tenacious defender and very good at reading the defense and cutting to the basket.

As Mr. Herman Cain once called himself -

"Flavor of the Month", LOL!

I have NO DOUBT that Joe Dumars, er I mean - Avery Bradley - has a bright future in BOS, but I think we are forgetting here what Ray Allen does and can still do.

I'll let Doc decide what to do, but we must be careful about getting caught up in the moment.

I would definitely bring Ray Allen back, without hesitation, as follows:

1. Coming off the bench
2. At the right price only

It's just time for him to take a lesser role at this point. I think if he doesn't recognize that then it might in fact be time for him to go elsewhere.

But if he's willing to except a different role, like Ginobli has been willing to do - sometime coming off the bench, sometimes starting - then you bring him back.

In general it's time to start putting some youth around Rondo.

He's said that he knows he's on borrowed time and completely open to coming off the bench even for the remainder of this season.  Definitely no ego issues with Ray

I think we should blow the team up and watch lottery ball for the next 5-10 years.  By that time they may have enough assets to trade for a new Big 3 with Rondo.  Bradley may be going to Spingfield based off his last few games or opposing coaches may figure out that they have to cover him when he cuts to the basket. I don't know which and suspect he's a borderline starter, but it's clear AB's the flavor of the month right now.

Ray can pretty much go where he wants next season.  He's the best UFA SG on the market that is flush with cash as teams pared down their salaries in anticipation of the new CBA. Look at what's available for unrestricted free agents and there's very slim pickings with Ray and KG the best players at their positions (assuming Duncan stays put).  Ray's net offensive-defensive ratings per BB-reference.com are still very good and better than PP this year (and way better than AB).

I think the Cs could get RA and KG at enough of a discount to enable us to add a couple of very good players in FA so that we can really contend next year (unlike this year because of our tight cap position).  Similar to the San Antonio model of reloading around former All-Stars. This doesn't appeal to those who like fantasy BB and the thrill of participating in the annual crap shoot that is known as the NBA draft lottery, but it can certainly work in the current NBA cap-environment where's there's no dominant teams like the pre-cap days.

I just really wonder if his ankles can heal without surgery , or if his ankles are just wiped out from all the years .

He's in great shape otherwise.  But , his ankles being off is hurtin  his game a ton.

When Ray feels good (no pain) I expect he can stillplay with the best of em.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I see Ray as a commodity for a lot of contenders [or teams that think they are contenders], but they won't have the money to sign him. I think it's possible we sign and trade him to a team like the Hawks, along with a pick, to get somebody like Josh Smith. Pietrus will come a lot cheaper and is more of a 'rebuilding' type of player, while also adding veteran leadership.

I would like to see Ray back here next year, but I would rather Pietrus and a guy like J. Smith than Ray and Pietrus. By signing and trading him, he still gets a contract he deserves, while still going to a decent team.
