Quote
Ray Allen could return from injury on Wednesday and his new role could be coming off the bench.

The Celtics have found success in pairing Rajon Rondo with Avery Bradley.

“We think about stuff like that all the time, no doubt,’’ Rivers said after Tuesday’s practice. “That, and other guys. We’ll see how it goes. Maybe it will be somebody else, we’ll see.’’

Allen said he would accept a bench role.

“Whatever we need to do as a team,’’ Allen said. “I think the effort that I’ve seen over the last week and a half, two weeks, is great. Whatever combinations we work out there, we’re all good enough, we’re all professional enough, to understand it. We know our plays. We’re at a point in the season where everybody knows who each other is. So, remembering plays and positions is second nature now for all of us.’’

I think it would work perfect if you start Bradley to set a  defensive tone and then at the 5 minute mark when KG comes out you bring in Ray for offense along with Stiemsma .

Like others on celticsblog have mentioned, this will keep rays legs fresh for the fourth quarter by only playing about 15-20 mins in the first 3 quarters(against second stringers).

Ray's got to start.

In the playoffs the transition game just goes down. Championship caliber teams need to execute in the half court.

Ray gives the C's better spacing and another threat from downtown.

He's just got to step it up defensively as do all the other starters besides KG, who brings it every night.

Bradley should just get into the game earlier and play with the starters more...but Ray has to start.

You don't go changing the starting 5 in the middle of the season and think you will go deep in the playoffs....it just doesn't work.

I don't see how they could justify this to Celtic Nation, but let's see what happens

I'm very  curious to see how Ray improves while playing limited minutes. Maybe he's even as good as Bradley, but I still doubt it.

Everybody was playing better without Ray. It was Magic.

No problem changing horses in mid-stream if the new horse makes all the other horses better.

So...Rondo vs Parker then Bradley vs Manu.

Rays no help if he can't play defense and do nothinhg but chuck up bricks.

He needs to stay out till he gets healthy ...overwise playing half hurt doesn't help the team ,but hurts it. ::) ??? ::)

hmm interesting observations considering Ray isn't being scored on, is only -5 (Bradley is -9) despite us being down 12, and has only missed two shots.

This was a tough game to bring Ray back in, considering they were up against the hottest team in the league. It's always hard to reincorporate a player in the five, and when it happens the player needs to stay in the game for a while.

Kudos to Bradley for not missing a beat!

I think the more important question is who ends the game? Rondo, KG, and Pierce are definites, and Ray is Mr. Clutch. Do you take Avery, who can (occasionally) hit shots, get to the rim and is a better defender, or Bass, who is bigger, has a more reliable jumper and is a better rebounder?

Only about 5% of me thought Doc would start Bradley. The Big Three will start and end a game no matter what.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

well, the big 3 SHOULD end the game...look how clutch ray was with that 3..as much as we love how Bradley is developing..he cant do that

the question is, who should start the game? personally i'm in favor of starting Bradley to build a lead early and then bring in allen around the 5minute mark(when kg goes out) for offensive firepower.

Even better question is who should finish the game with the Big Three and Rondo. Bradley or a big to get rebounds.

I would finish it with Bass...hes a pretty clutch offensive player
