I think one could fairly argue for Dwight Howard, but I can't think of anyone else who has a more positive defensive impact on his team.

Not that Howard shouldn't be the DPOY, but sometimes I think his defensive prowess is overstated and not enough credit is given to Stan Van Gundy's coaching.

I think the Davis kid is going to be good at D.

It's Howard and it not even close.  The impact he has on defense is unlike that of any other player.

It's a lot closer this year than you'd imagine.

KG elevates his entire team's defensive intensity. Not sure if Dwight does that, yet.

DH will get to that point, eventually - as he continues to mature in the league.

DH is statistically the best defender, but to me KG's effect on a TEAM is hands down the best.

Look at what KG's Effect has spawned:

- A better defender in Tony Allen. TA's become the emotional
leader of MEM. TA was a good defender prior to KG, but I
think he took it up a notch upon his arrival.

- A leader on defense in Kendrick Perkins. He even took KG's
number in OKC and Perk undoubtedly anchors OKC's defense.

- Our Captain. He took his defense up a notch, too, once KG
  came to town.

- Rondo, AB, etc...

I just don't see DH having that same effect if, say - he left
for NJ or DAL. He'd make them better defensively by his presence, but I don't think individually he'd spawn such an effect on his teammates, yet.

Part of defense is rebounding, Dwight Howard averages 3 more defensive boards a game then KG.  Gotta give Howard the slight edge.
do it
