If Avery Bradley were thrown into this draft class, what pick would he get selected?

Very deep draft - I'd say somewhere in the early 20's.  Once Teague comes off the board, you'd be able to start watching for Bradley

So if Danny were offered the 15th pick in the draft for AB, you would say to go for it?

I'd say no if the deal were offered before the draft.  I would be open to reconsidering after the 14th pick is selected and I know who is left.

Avery Bradley, I believe, would go very high in this draft. Bradley is now a semi-proven NBA commodity. His stock this year has gone sky high and it is my opinion there are few to no guards in this draft that have the defensive abilities that Bradley has combined with the athleticism and mid range shot he has. In this draft I think Avery Bradley would probably be the second guard off the board after Bradley Beal. Top 7-10 fairly easy.

Bradley would have been the go to scorer for Texas, with a great distributing pg in Kabango. Bradley would have been shutting down every guard in the country, and making a run with Texas in the tourney.

We would have seen more highlights than he's produced with the Celtics, because he would have had the green light to drive or shoot at will.

Bradley has better one on one skills than we've seen, and it's pretty much a shame that Ray is getting healthy and politics will dictate cutting into Bradley's time on the floor and Bradley's comfort with not having to look over his shoulder.

Bradley  probably would be drafted between 8-17, right there in the mix with Beal, Rivers, and Ross.

I would not trade Bradley for Rivers, and I don't think most gms would either.

I think that's probably right.

Does he go before or after Austin Rivers?

Before. His ability to shut down NBA players and give fits to the occasional NBA superstar would put him in front of Rivers.

How many players in this draft have the ability to make Russell Westbrook give up his dribble due to one on one pressure, stifle Deron Williams with pressure, make Steve Nash human on offense and hold Dwyane Wade to 35% shooting and 15 points?

Bradley also has shown to be a developing combo guard and if he can extend his range could be a dangerous weapon. There is no doubting his athleticism and speed and his wingspan is awesome for an undersized 2 guard. In this draft he's probably right around pick 9-10 with the Jazz taking him with the Warrior's pick, 2nd guard overall.

After. NBA execs value offense over defense as a generality. So far I think Rivers offense is better than Bradley's defense.

Bradley is showing great improvement. But he's too small to bother a Kobe sized 2 guard, and too limited on offense to play PG consistently. A coach still has to utilize Bradley very carefully.

Rivers is a little more ready to be thrown out there on any team, any system.

.....and you forgot making Jameer Nelson cry uncle.

Nick, also agree with you on the 9-10th slot.

After. I see what nick is saying but sometimes I think the draft (especially the nba draft, but the nfl too) is like the Oscars. It has nothing to do with the best, and more to do with hype and who had the best campaign.

Different sport obviously but this whole Luck is the best QB prospect since John Elway stuff is absurd.

I just don't think a taller guy who was Doc's kid and the #1 recruit in the country and a Dukie would lose out to Bradley.

One question I have is how would a second year Avery Bradley compare to Tony Allen in 2004?

Allen was the Big 12 player of the year, and was an athletic freak who was an accomplished two-way player.  He fell to the 25th pick in what was probably a comparable draft.

Bradley can shoot FTs and hit a mid range shot and seems to be, at least in interviews I have heard, worlds smarter than Tony.

We never get to see or hear the interviews these players put on, which I am guessing is a huge factor in some cases. Find out the guy is a moron and he drops. Find out the guy is smart and coachable, and he rises.

If Bradley is smart, is coachable, which it seems he is, and given he has an outside shot and ability to hit FTs, I think that significantly raises his stock over Tony's in a similar draft at a similar age.

I really do think a player's background, intelligence, ability to be coached, and general personality have a gigantic input into drafting, especially for Ainge. Some of the risks he has taken(Giddens, Walker, Rondo, Davis, Green) have come with guys that had personality or intelligence or coachability issues. One paid off huge, Rondo. Another worked out well, Davis. Others, like Green, Walker and Giddens, were abject failures.
